Vista sales are very slow. Vista only has 14 percent usage in first it's 11 months. This means people don't like it. This is what happens when Microsoft tries to sell bloated ware. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,137635/article.html
XP is so strong because it's had 5 years to become more compatible with older hardware vista isn't bloated at all vista has less processes running than XP..........
Vista has the most processes running, except it usually only shows the user ones, but if you check the check from all user's, including system, you will see it runs almost 60 processes!
Yikes that's bad. I don't really know why anyone would upgrade, its just unnecessary and a money grab by Microsoft. Vista is so slow because Memory is so cheap these days... why code better when you can just buy another Gig of memory. Vista is so damn slow.
Why is there soooo many of these threads? I'm on my VISTA powered 2GB ram computer a few hrs everyday since I got it 2 months after vista came out. Iv had ZERO PROBLEMS. I run 5-10 HEAVY programs at once.... nothing happens. I can run Adobe CS2 (photoshop and image ready), Dreamweaver, Adobe Reader, 5+ Firefox Windows, MSN Messenger, Windows Media Player, etc etc etc ----- all at the same time and not one slowdown! It's never EVER crashed on me.... What is wrong with everyones copies? Or am I just a lucky one?
Well in the XP era people would swear by their win98 and win2000 pro oses so this happening with Vista is not new. Not every organisation will plunge $$$$ into a new OS as soon as its out. Generally the transition period starts in the post sp1/bug fixes era. Also Vista isnt a bloatware if you have the right system to run it on. Do not expect it to run on 512MB ram celerons without sluggishness.
I personally hate vista. It's slow and unresponsive in comparison to XP on the same machines - including high end machines. I'm happy with an OS that does what I want. Little things like when I copy and paste files for it to do a progress bar for sometimes a minute when in XP it'd be moved instantly makes me walk away.
Wow, iv really never had that problem waiting for the C&P. It's done almost instantly here even with 500MB files. Honestly, I had alot more hassles with XP. It lagged on my older computer (keep in mind it only had 512MB Ram) but besides that I didn't like how it performed or looked. I DO like eyecandy, and Vista is great for that!
wheres everyone coming up with this bullshit that its bloated and slow? specs of this laptop: intel core 2 duo 1.6ghz 1gb ram some crappy intel intergreated graphics and as you can see I had 3 firefox browsers with one downloading, notepad++, adobe CS3, photoshop CS2, the truely bloated itunes, paint, msn, image ready, windows task manager and finally was playing a video in windows media player and hey look at that CPU usage is 66%, and RAM usage is 888mb hah I doubt anyone has that many programs open at once with a shitty laptop like mine I never experienced any slowdowns once the programs were open only slowdown I had was with CS2, in which it wasn't showing me the thumbnails of the taskbar aps
Like me... I had 1GB of RAM, 180BG of memory, and when I installed Vista, the memory went down to 50GB and I was like "WTF?" then after about 2 weeks, it went back up to 170GB, then it just started lagging I like the interface of Vista, it gives more meaning to the word "design" than XP does. I'm happy with the performance of Vista. I wouldn't go out and buy it right away on a machine that already has XP, but I have no problem with putting it on new machines. I think people just hate change. Think about the days of DOS, or even earlier - nobody would have dreamed of hundreds of Meg, let alone a Gig or more memory back then. That said, I do think all this memory / space / speed makes programmers a little lazy
Vista absoloutley OWNZ. I got a whole 13.4 FPS more using Vista vs XP on Counterstrike Source (video stress test) That is enough for me to proove performance. Also it looks so much nicer, and its new so its awesome, going back to XP feels for me like using XP then going back to 98, yeck!
i switched from xp to vista and i like it. easy installation, fast booting, nice look. sure, its not a milestone in software history but it's cool. if you want to try it, i suggest to run it on a 2gb ram machine.
I think he honestly believed that quote too it isn't his fault programs have been getting bloated pretty sure he hasn't coded a whole operating system by himself, ever
