First of all, I wasted 2 hours of my life and watched the video, went to sleep at 6:30 AM. The lecture was interesting. Mr. Radical Blackfoot though has some very deep resentments that color his teaching. I understand he hates GWB, and he hates corporatism, and he hates the war. I just felt the real learning ended about 1 hour in, and the guy at the end asking him about black helicopters really showed that he didn't get through to everyone based on the power of his truth. Group mind reader. That must be why you have the towel wrapped around your head. I don't buy this. Von Mises said that the job of economists was to take the advanced theory and make it something palatable and understandable (as this professor kinda did) to his audience, regardless of their theoretical knowledge level. Many people are attracted to the fruit of Paul's philosophy, regardless of the mechanics required to get there. This is not necessarily true. Austrian economics isn't pure neo-classical theory. By your prof's example, it's centrist and can accomodate the ideas that the macro can be greater, equal to or less than the sum of the micro. Yes. No, Paul again is talking about a practical application of Austrian Economics as it applies to the current situation in the US. He's not running to be an economist, he's running to facilitate an Austrian economics type system. The difference between manufacturing a fork, and eating with one. Does every Ron Paul supporter read FA Hayek, Rothbard or Von Mises? Definitely not. But understanding concepts like hard money, free markets and the psychological influences on an economy (creative energy) are something most can appreciate. Btw, hopefully a bunch of young people are encouraged to read those men. The Von Mises Institute online has a superb catalog of free publications and audio.
Here's a primer in case anyone cares: http://www.fee.org/pdf/the-freeman/hazlitt1003.pdf I doubt most of his supporters care about Austrian economics per se. Most people don't know or care exactly what it means. The point as far as Ron Paul goes is that most people know something is amiss and the Fed. is suspect. Get rid of the Fed. and get the congress to do it's job and don't let the bankers do it for them. We do not have a free market, just ask Alan Greenspan.
Guerilla, where would be the best sources to start? Any specific writings that are good ice breakers? I've taken a few economics classes in college and they're interesting but I want to get more into it, just don't know where to begin. I need something that's not so heavy so I can wrap my head around some of these higher level concepts.
Ok, first of all, I have to admit, I am a pretty big Murray Rothbard fan. So... You really want to read "History of Money". It's a great start. http://www.mises.org/books/historyofmoney.pdf http://www.mises.org/store/History-of-Money-and-Banking-in-the-United-States--P191C0.aspx You might be able to find it in a library. The first MP3 in this audio section is also very good. http://www.mises.org/media.aspx?action=category&ID=32 -
no tattoos don't bother me, whats on your head? if your gonna try and look smart and strike up an intelligent conversation at least try and portray it. Basically that picture tells me you are a punk. Naturally i am sure thats what everyone sees off your picture, doesn't mean you are its just a bad impression.
Guerilla you need to explain it in one line copy and past sentences. This way it will be understood better.
Pull out of a war started on false pretenses. Give up on the Fed. To refuse to give in and pander to special interests. Well, you were close...I guess
LMFAO........ Anyway, people are looking for an honest leader and a better solution. Ron Paul provides these, and it's about picking the best. Cupid, what candidate do you think is better and why?
Sounds like another lame attempt at getting someone banned. Nice work Mia. When you can't discuss economics, resort to removing all dissent. Smooth.
Just more blather. This thread is a discussion on globalization and economics, particularly the Austrian School. Do you have anything to contribute on hard money theory or the business cycle, or are you just using this as another petty opportunity to attack Ron Paul and goad his supporters? Dr. Martin Luther King once said, "I have a dream..." Well I have a dream too Mia. That one day, you will actually know something, about something, and we could have a debate, instead of you just making false accusations and not backing them up with facts. Might be a nightmare for you.
Wouldn't it be easier to just blame Fox News.. You could have saved time, and kept from wasting energy writing all this drivel...
