Which Blog Would Be Best To Get Reviewed By?

I will be launching a site in the coming couple months and was wondering if it would be worth it to pay hundreds of dollars to get a top blog to review my site.

My site is actually a website marketplace (same concept as what they have here on DP) and is similar to buysellwebsitedotcom, crossed with eBay, crossed with an information and community resource.

Has anyone used blog reviews with any success?
What blog would be best for my type of site?
Do you think a lot of general visitors (non-targeted) would be interested in a site like mine? I offer completely free listing of websites.

If you don't think it'd be worth it then please state why and if you could recommend any other marketing tactic that could spread my site across the blogosphere then that would be very helpful.

If you have any marketing suggestions that would be of great help. I'm looking to launch my site with a huge bang and get a lot of attention.

I wish I could post what I have so far for my site to give you guys a better idea but I can't use a sig yet and it's against the rules to post it here.

Get a review from ShoeMoney.com, little expensive however it would be well worth it, since it would give you lots of targeted traffic.

Another blog you could try is, http://www.johnchow.com - they do reviews and that blog is visited by a huge number of people everyday.

Yea, to get a review from him costs more than it did to develop my whole site lol. Definitely way out of my range but I'm sure if you could afford it it would bring great traffic.

Ok yea, john chow is definitely in an affordable price range but I've heard a lot of people don't really take his paid reviews too seriously because he does so many of them all the time.

Does anyone else have anymore good suggestions?

He does so many because, his ROI is better than spending $400 anywhere else. He's even mentioned how he is increasing his prices to $450 shortly and is still getting paid reviews. Look at http://blog.adtoll.com/2007/11/13/the-john-chow-effect-on-adtoll/ and see why people think he is so good.

My advice is John Chow and/or Profit Baron ;)

Yup price is a bit steep; however it’s would be a good source of targeted traffic especially since you are looking at webmaster traffic.

Ok yea that's what it sounds like. For the amount of visitors he gets he has about the cheapest review price around.

Can anyone else here vouch for John Chows reviews?

I reject about 80% of all submissions it really has to be a product I like and would recommend to people. My reviews are 2000-5000 depending on the product... I did only 4 paid reviews in 2007.

I would suggest starting with John chow first and see how it does. For only 250$ its quite a deal. The only down side is he is banned in Google so its not going to help you reputation wise

I can review your site in my 5 PR5 and 10 PR4 Blogs for only $130. It will help you rank your keywords well in the SERPS.

Remember, John Chow is only PR4. Let me know if you are interested. Just PM me.

You have to look at it numbers wise.

Would you be able to get back your money?

How many actually read the reviews? Now, of those who do, how many will actually click over to your site? With those who do, how many will actually buy? And of those who buy, will it be enough to get your money back, and then some?

    Nope.

Remember...we are talking conversion rates for most if not practically all ads and products at less than 3%.

First you have to get them to click on your link, which will be, maybe, MAYBE 3% of them. Then you have to get them to buy once they are there, which will be less than 3%.

    Do the math.

I had one offered to review my site for $750!

lol shit, yeah, right. I told him I'd give him $50. :p

That takes real balls, and arrogance to charge something like that. :)~

But, hell, try it anyway. You might as well find out on your own.

I'm actually really glad to hear that - you're not a slut selling away your blog like many bloggers out there. :p

    I actually think it's $400/review now.

JohnChow may give you 2,000 visitors only when the review is on the homepage. But what if i can make your keywords in the TOP 10 in Serps?

Somebody purchased a review from before the PR update me months ago:

    his keywords:

    1: espn nfl power rankings
result: NO. 2 in Google behind ESPN.com domain
    2. nfl blog
    result: Top 10 in google
    3. football analysis
    result: second page in google
    4. college football analysis
    result: no5 in google
    5. nfl analysis
    result: no8 in google

These are only the few and I used only 10 blogs from PR3 to PR4 for the reviews:
Now I have 5 PR5 and more than 10 PR4. Can John Chow give that to you? I don't think so.

Wow, shoemoney himself responded, pretty cool. Yea that definitely gives you much more credibility and is very respectable, unfortunately it is a little out of my price range right now. But I'll definitely try out JC and if that goes well and my site does well maybe eventually apply for a review on your blog. Didn't know about him being banned in google either, thanks for the info.

Perry Rose: You see I'm sure my site would be quite different than a lot of the others John Chow reviews. It will be offering a valuable and very useful service (not some ridiculous product that is centered around conversion rates or anything) that is of a higher quality than most other sites like it.

Because of this I feel that yes, getting traffic from John Chows blog could definitely be worth it because it would get my name out there and get me lots of recognition and hopefully generate interest among many of the other bloggers that pay attention to him.

Touches93: Cool, very impressive stats, good to know.

Personally, I believe the type of visitors John Chow/Shoemoney have are just people looking for quick cash and as such are not your target market.

Small webmaster forums (300+) members are where I'd advertise if I was in your shoes.
