there are many differences and it really depends on what version of XP and what version of Vista you were using.

Vista Ultimate is really great when it comes to graphic interface, but XP still has less bugs and it's been discussed in soo many threads here on DP.

No, I like Vista way the hell better than XP.

I reverted back to XP awhile ago and god was it a step back in time. I didn't realize how much I love Vista until that moment.

I've had no major Vista bugs whatsoever. Very pleasant experience.

It's also way way WAY more secure than XP.

There's only two programs I've ever wanted to use that don't work on Vista -- World War 2 Online and Peerguardian 2

Hating a new Microsoft product is just bullshit pop culture.

All Windows are based on first Windows edition. It is very hard, maybe impossible to create a very different looking operating system.
GUI is everything and will be similar for years. Maybe we use new technologies but first editon of Windows like GUI will remain.

Only those that hate vista, either have crappy computers or can't afford ultimate. I have a great computer and have been running vista ultimate with no issues what so ever.

Despite getting a free upgrade to Vista on my laptop, I stuck with Windows XP. I hated Vista with a passion when I used it.

Vista is essentially just XP with better graphics.

You are quite wrong in your assertion. I know many people who bought brand new laptops with mid-range hardware recently. They hate Vista. Anyone who knows anything about computers thinks Vista is crap.

Everything up to Windows ME was based on Windows 9x. Windows XP and Vista are actually based off of Windows 2000, which is based on Windows NT.

    Vista > XP

    why?

    1) It's faster on my hardware, it's more optimized for my dual core processor and my amount of ram
    2) I've never HAD to reformat because windows has fucked up, the only problem I've had is with a codec I installed
    3) It looks better
    4) I don't game, so I don't care about frame rates
    5) The search is a lot better, I actually use it now
    6) It doesn't hurt my eyes
    7) It actually uses my hardware
    9) I never get slow downs
    10) It's easier to activate my crack.... :)

If you didn't find anything wrong or different from XP to Vista.. then you are Microsoft's perfect customer.

Willing to pay for anything, regardless of benefit.

    Vista sucks compared to XP.

no offense to anyone but anyone who pays $400 for an OS is a moron
I'd rather use linux and get used to the alternative programs
not saying I'm proud of running a cracked Vista, I just think it's stupid paying for something that lots of people get for free

I actually know a lot about computers. My computer works wonderfully with vista. I personally use vista, most computer users are idiot's so what they think is usually based on lack of experience with the OS, and their stupid hate of microsoft. I'm not wrong, your wrong for saying I'm wrong.

You are wrong in saying that people hate Vista because their computers cannot handle it. They hate it because it is annoying to use, and isn't a major improvement over XP.

I agree with you that most people's complaints are due to lack of knowledge and experience. However, the notion that most computer users are idiots is poppycock. The majority of people are not good around computers because they see no need to learn about them and have other interests. I've met many a doctor and PhD who needed help with a computer.

May I help you with some grammar? Proper nouns such as Vista and Microsoft are capitalized. "idiot's" is not showing possession to anything, so why is it written so in your post? "Your" should be written as "you're" as it is being used as a contraction. If you're going to accuse someone of being wrong, at least do so in the "right" way. ;)

    xp made on cpp
    while vista made on .net

there are many changes made in vista engine so it works faster than xp but requires higher ram

u can see in task manager
vista keeps most of the data in ram instead of hdd unlike xp

Vista, XP, they're all junk... personally I prefer Windows 98... no, Windows 3.1... yeah, that's the life. I'd run everything in Basic if I could.
