I am looking at marketing a product on craigslist Can anyone tell me if it is worth the effort If would be directly to lawyers
The only way to know for sure is to try it. But first get others to critique your ad(s) and product(s). Would they click on your URL link? Would they buy it once they are at your site? Once you have it ironed out, THEN start advertising. A very rich lawyer is approached by the United Way. The man from the United Way is concerned that the lawyer made over $1,000,000.00 last year but didn't donate even a cent to a charity. "First of all", says the lawyer, "my mother is sick and dying in the hospital, and it's not covered by healthcare. Second, I had five kids through three divorced marriages. Third, my sister's husband suddenly died and she has no one to support her four children..." "I'm terribly sorry", says the United Way man, "I feel bad about asking for money." The Lawyer responds, "Yeah, well if I'm not giving them any money, why should I give you any?"

I've advertised on Craigslist. Brought in a flood of visists but very few conversions. Definately worth it as it's free.
One way to make it work is not to try to make a conversion (i.e.: a sale) but I would consider a lead a conversion. So giving something for free (knowing your customer's lifetime value) it's definitely worth the time invested. People loooove craigslist
I guess it depends on how you use it to market. Some people make thousands others make $0. I know some people who claim to have made good money. clist has got more strict since then though.
craigslist is general classified site by location and is free to post, there is no statistics available as if there are lawyers checking the site, and as Perry Rose says, you'll have to try it in order to know if you are able to get leads from there.
Considering the effort to market on craigslist is pretty minimal I would say try it out and see what happens. I can tell you from experience that I've received leads from lawyers before and even a reality TV "star". Test the waters and if you get a response keep at it.
It depends on what you're selling and what part of the site you're posting on. Some areas just get more visits than others.
