if you let a campaign run on auto pilot, will the cpc eventually go down after a week or two just continoulsy running and all is going good? i have a campaign right now thats getting the same revenue and ROI everyday and i want to get just a few hundred more to break $1,000. by letting it run on auto pilot, will the cpcs decrease and my 1st position will be maintained? which means i will get more clicks at a lower cost and i can get that few extra hundred per day....

CPC goes down when you have high CTR, so if you do, then yes, you will be able to decrease your costs. However, you have to monitor your campagin because you always can lose your positions, as there are other advertisers.

I believe 2% should be the minimum acceptable.

Dunno if anything specific constitutes 'high'. Me, I call anything between 3.5 and 4% 'Great' :D What I can say though is when attaining CTR like this, Av CPC does drop. This in turns leads me to reduce Max CPC. I find that the average position for an ad generated by a keyword that has had its Max CPC reduced by a few cents (due to 3.5-4% CTR) remains pretty much the same.

That's a good question and I think noone can put a definite time to this. I guess it would depend on many things such as how long the campaign has been running, amongst other things.

What I can say though, is that in the example I gave above, I was able to lower max CPC during the course of an evening (say over 5-6 hours) as I watched Average CPC slowly getting lower.

You have to wait about a week and maitain high CTR. After a week passed, you decrease your bids just a bit. Let's say its was 0.50, you change it 0.45 and the see if you still keep your positions. If you still keep high positions while pay less, then try a bit later again to decrease the bids. If you are losing your positions, when trying to lower your costs, then you CTR is not high enough.

Perfect. That's what I've been doing. Don't rush things and you can lower your CPC pretty low

Never Tried Auto poilet before.. I guess the ROI will be too low if you let your account to be managed by the system

its not managed by the system, i say "auto pilot" when my campaign is consistent everyday so i just leave it alone and periodically check up on it.

Yeah I'm not sure those true automated bidding systems would work because they would "over adjust" bids imho.

I know that's not the case here, but just saying... :)
