It is disputed by some if that phrase is part of the parable Parable or not it is still in the book, things like this are followed by radicals of the religion just as they are on muslims end 'parable or not' trully is not the point. This is only one quote I listed, there are of course more.

It was totally hacked, a few words from one phrase, a few words from another passage, mixed into one. It reminds me of those serial killer letters where they cut out letters to make a demand. That's about as 'literal' as it was. This yet again coming from an english translation, and hacked to boot.

Some christians do still follow the OT, some only partially follow it, some dont' follow it at all.

Even if a part follow it, this leaves room for radicals to abuse it just as in Islam. Do the majority of Islam follow these butchered quotes that Gtech posted?

There is a dispute as to if that part trully is part of the parable or not, from my reading anyways. Even 'parable' or not, the words themselves do not change. Marking it with a nice little parable term doesn't in my eyes change the meaning.

 

i read the whole thread and there is a lot of hate going on her. imo neg reps to everyone involved who is resulting to insults to backup their debate. the has been war on this planet since mankind evolved to use tools, the only thing is the world was huge back then and different beliefs never came in contact so there was no conflict, over time the population grew and cultures met, and wars become more common place. now we have the internet, wars are taking place on forums. could you imagine the 10 or so contributers to this thread in a room together, each with a wooden branch to club their opponent with, because it seems pretty stone age to me.
there will never be peace on earth. the sooner we realise this and move on the better. this thread needs to be closed before someone gets cyber shot

I'm not posting hateful posts. I posted various messages from a religious doctrine. I do agree with you here, that the things I illustrated from the doctrine are seemingly hateful.

The irony is, it was a religious doctrine that contained the "hatred." The irony is, that they are used towards the group whose ideology promotes such, it's hatred, and abomination, offensive. But when they are put back in their proper contextual message and directed at the original recipients, then suddenly there is nothing wrong with them, they are "misrepresented," they are "taken out of context," or "it's not an exact quote" even though the message is the same.

It's quite quite an amazing immersion into cognitive dissonance.

Additionally I might point out, that being aware of hatred is not the hatred. The hatred is in the doctrine. You can't have it both ways. If it's hatred when the recipient is redirected at the religion espousing such things, then summarily it must also be hatred when it's directed at the recipients intended (the infidels - in all our various flavors of terms). I'm not responsible for the hatred the messages tell, but rather for being aware of them.

I agree that the message the verses portray is right in line with what I posted. You've confirmed this, because when they are directed at the original recipients (Christians, Jews, and other flavors of infidels/nonbelievers), suddenly they are "out of context" and "distortions," etc. But when they are turned around, they are suddenly "offensive."

It simply cannot be both. It's a scriptural paradox. Pointed one direction, it's not accurate. Pointed another direction, it's outrageous. In my dictionary, we call this hypocrisy.

Now we know the website where some of our members get their hatred for Islam and Muslims from it's all becoming a lot clearer now.

DP nearly lost one of it's biggest P&R members down to the utter hatred towards Muslims that has been building up here in DP P&R forum over the last couple of months, it is certainly getting worse and will continue to do so unless it's nipped in the bud.

Some people can be so utterly brainwashed by a site that spreads hatred towards Islam that they feel the need to spread that hatred on Webmaster forums, that is unacceptable.

It's not the Politics side of this forum that will be it's downfall, it is the Religion side of it that will ruin it.

Personally I am not Religious at all so I would rather we kept the Politics side and got rid of the Religion side. I would rather debate the upcoming 2008 US Election than see a load of hatred towards Islam/Muslims/Jews/Christians etc. etc. etc.

AGS, I don't believe the propaganda and calls for sympathy are working. I know you have a duty and obligation, because I've only seen you take issue with Christians, Jews, Soldiers and America since your arrival here. I've never seen a single bad word regarding terrorists, not a bad word when your country's soldiers were illegally captured, not a bad word when terrorists have attacked your country, never a bad word when hezbollah and hamas attacked Israel and most certainly never a bad word for anyone in Gitmo.

We have certainly seen bad words when it comes to US soldiers, when it comes to America, when it comes to "Americans," when it comes to Christians, when it comes to Israel, when it comes Jews, when it comes to white politicians.
