Trying? There's no trying to it.

    Who uses Netscape anyways?

Most of the guys that worked on Netscape developed Firefox so they will have the last laugh against IE.

    Nah,

I wouldn't say IE, but the fact that Firefox & Opera are now the browsers that people use outside of IE... THEY have just as more to do with the death of Netscape IMO.

Netscape cant compete against themselves. Faced with a growing IE threat, I think they are over confident and lost out to a lousier player, at that time IE really is a mess. Thank Goodness Firefox carries on the Mozilla tradition.

The guys having the biggest laugh are Jim Clark and Mark Andressen -when they sold out at right time with Netscape's ridiculous high prices back then:D

I think they also regretted not selling to Bill Gates at that time, when even Bill Gates paid so much personal attention to it and wants to get it at any cost. Thankfully for us too. Or Mozilla/Firefox wouldn't have existed.

Netscape initially funded Firefox to the tune of $2 million. Plus a lot of the talent from the orginal Netscape contributes to Firefox. If you want to blame someone, don't blame Microsoft, blame AOL. When they bought out Netscape for roughly $4 Billion, it was still a viable browser. Now AOL though shit management has twiddled it down to only a few engineers and THEY are working on a Netscape looking skin for Firefox! Right now Netscape makes up only 0.6% of the browser market, so it will fade with a whimper.

    I admit it.....

IE browsing was blocked (limited) when I was working at this "one" place. Netscape helped me sneak onto the net.

I guess it depends on your customers ' profiles. If you have a techniqual website I guess mot of them would use Firefox but if you have a entertainment website then most would use IE.

This seems to be a belated announcement. Netscape has been dead for awhile.

without Mosaic and Netscape's graphical web browser in the late 80s and early 90s, I wonder what the internet would look like now....thank you Netscape for the wonderful years and we will continue supporting FireFox.
