For th 10000 time Directorys are for building links that will get higher rankings that will get traffic they aren't for geting direct traffic got the idea ?
How i'm wrong ? If somebody submits to dirs to get traffic they have a problem ... Some niche dirs send some traffic but that's not the purpose ... you get baciklinks you get rankings and get organic traffic witch is the best period ....
The Yahoo directory and DMOZ will send you some traffic. Other than that, I don't know any other directory that can send you any meaningful traffic.
i read someone you never submit to paid directories. Perhaps if you did you would know. Just check the top hits pages on alivedirectory. Some listed sites are getting plenty traffic.

There are directories that send traffic like romow, elegantdirectory and some others that send me traffic.
? how are you working that magical statement wllace ? that cy has to be so old school it's not funny, but i see it's a common one. Over time i am 100% sure you will see this trend change and is already happening as stated below, and is one statement that defies all logic if it were true No one uses web directories then why spend big $ on design and development ? have not seen your directory yet but will look soon. Why spend big $ on flashy mods and additions and why bother filling them with advertising surley the search engines don't use the ads ? why bother filling them with content, we don't even need a flahy name nor do we even need a banner / logo Just some of the counter claims to the arguement if no one uses them we only need a plain white page with hyperlinks period.
I suggest if you want some real traffic you should use Yahoo Directory. This really will bring you some extra visitors to your site.
Yes I got some traffic from Yahoo but it really depends in which category you submit and how good your site gets placed. 250 - 500 extra visitors per month is not bad. But now traffic went down again only 200 for this month from Yahoo directory.
