How much do you NEED to make?

I live in the Seattle area. Rent alone is $1300 plus utils for the two bedroom apartment I have. Tack on two car payments for me and the wife ($750, and no they are not BMW's), food, clothes, fun (would be zero if my wife would let me stare at a monitor 18 hours a day), misc. Your looking at $4,000 AFTER taxes, so like $5500-6000 a month. Now if you lived in a hole, you could go to little town USA and get a studio apartment for $350. Slap on $150 in utils (power, water, internet), $40 for noodles, and $10 for a pair of sandals for your transportation, you would only need $550, but you would want to kill yourself.

 

i would say $2700/month in Ontario,Canada. take 30-something percent of that for taxes.

you could live off less, but it wouldnt be much fun.

I would be more than happy to make $500/month in adsense revenue

(would pay for car payments and insurance and leave a little extra for hosting and such.)

but to make 500 dollars/month id have to increase my revenue by x16. Which seems tough to me.

 

I'm making a living online but not from Adsense

As for adsense 50$/day is my target for the midlle of 08 and hopfully 100$/day untill the end

 

Here in South Africa $2000 pm will set you off well

 

Here in canary islands ( spain ), i ( my kids ,my wife , dog) need atleast 5/ 5.5 k a month to live
that will convert to about almost 4k euros
given i pay a k mortage , that leaves me 3 for the car , creditcard bills (from my wife) telephone, office rent, social security, accountance , internet , food , gas ,servers,etc

if i make 6 k a month , i cannot save any money.

so id say i need to make 7k

I agree. I used to live in UK for 3 years and with my salary of (75 K pounds), i still felt i was earning less lol

Here in singapore, you can live off $2000 USD with bare minimum lifestyle and own house. If you are renting a place, you must get atleast $2500 salary per month.

My condo rent itself is $3000 USD. you can imagine the living cost here.

 

Well this is something interesting to share with all of you since i have my clients across the globe for whom i do adsense consultation since past 5 years now.

In East Africa (Uganda) you need around $3000 to live life happily
In India you need around $1000 to live life happily
In USA you need $4000 to $5000 to live life happily with ongoing bills .

 

Poland 1500-2000, small house costs here about 300-500 000 $

 

Stable above $3000 is enough for me, would cover costs, taxes and living. Basically the same as having a half-decent full time job, only my job doesn't suck. Might need a little bit more if the US dollar drops further.

I usually make over $3000 per month, though not from adsense. If adsense wasn't in the toilet I'd be good. I make 1/3 of what I used to with adsense.

 

$2000/month net would be the minimum satisfactory pay for any full time worker, on a low salary.

I don't work as a professional but if i want to live off adsense i'll have to be one and the tax fees are about 40-50%

 

2,000$/month should keep me going.. at least right now

i cant believe all you guys who are saying 2,000/mo... after tax i'm assuming... and presumably living in your moms basement

i make over double that (from a normal job) and i dont find it overly comfortable. i guess i have steep standards.

i could probably do $3k/mo but no less. i won't tolerate room mates or junker cars to go less if i can help it.

$2k/mo would definitely not suffice for alberta, canada. you'd need 5 room mates and a bus pass and eat at soup kitchens

I used to live in the US, Chicago subs for 7+ years, then Jackson/TN, and i've been to Seattle and many times in Tampa/FL....but now i am in EU and we're actually toying with the idea to move to Spain or the islands there. GF speaks perfect spanish and weather here in germany sucks)

Why is it so expensive there? I know midland Spain is bad...but the islands??

this sounds about normal. What about some nice apt for a couple somewhere nice and sunny? I mean, the beauty of IM is you can do it from all around the globe - all i need is a fast (and i mean: FAST) internet connection How does it look there?

Totally agree, would even go as far to say $5000 to $7000 in the south east and that would still be pushing it after tax and would have to be even higher near London. I'm somewhere in that region with my day job, earn extra with adsense and I still can't afford to buy a one bedroom flat!!!!!

If I ever hit that level of income from my website I'd consider moving to somewhere like Thailand or Malaysia relax in the sun, enjoy a comfortable standard of living etc. Then again if I made that much on top of my wages I'd be able to afford to actually live in my own country ermmmm what would one do lol.
