Visit my auction and you'll see exactly what I mean, Read the comments below. This user called up my host pretended to be me and changed all my info, and DNS. Now my domain narutochronicles.net is basically HIS!! COMPLETELY STOLEN!

Now my host is still unable to find the problem, and how he's able to do this. I have contacted the authorities regarding this matter with his IP address. I just hope this never happens to anyone of you. BE CAREFUL AND TIGHTEN YOUR SECURITY!

My host assures me I am the owner of this domain and hosting account, I hope I get this resolved after christmas.

WATCH OUT FOR THIS USER: WIDEDESIGNS ON SITEPOINT, HE TARGETS ANYONE HE CAN GET!!

I wish you luck in recovering your site and domain. Make sure whois gets fixed with your information to a secured email address. And do you have backups of your site files?

Where was the domain registered at? Seams like you will be able to prove the real owner with payment invoice receipts of your payment method.. Unless the hacker has control of that too?

Well I am hosted with hostmonster, recently I found out that if you register a domain with them and it's your main hosting account, it can be stolen by someone, because you don't have any access to DNS whatsoever!! I had to buy http://www.narutochonicle.net to start getting traffic again, also hostmonster says that they are trying to recover the domain for me, and lock DNS, but I doubt it will stop this hacker. He seems to be able to change anything he wants. This is such fraud, I bought and registered this domain http://www.narutochronicles.net, if you check the whois on http://www.domaintools.com, you will notice I am the first registrant, on 9-13-2007 and then you'll see In Nov, the domain was somehow "created on 10-24-2007", and registerd with another registrar! This guy is complete trash, check his comments on my auction, HE IS TARGETING ME AND NO ONE IS SEEING THIS! Sitepoint claims they can't ban him or do anything about it! What is one supposed to do to get help!! Anyone have ideas?? or know some hackers....lol...anyone??

It maybe looks like it is still registered at hostmonster.. just the name servers are changed to point to dreamhost.. He is maybe trying to transfer the name or hopefully it got reversed.. hopefully you will get it back.. I would just keep telling hostmonster that your domain was flat out stolen! I mean tell them over and over.. That this name has literally been hijacked.. If they can not do anything about it than ask them or find out who is maybe a higher agency who can do something about it.. I would also contact dreamhost with those name server numbers from the whois and make them aware that the domain holder using those NS and the domain, is a crook..

Yea.. next time try to get your domain some where else separate from your hosting.. and always, always keep the domain locked.

I hope you get it back.. this would suck..I hope monster can recover it for you!

Man that guy is a serious fraud, above in the thread he says that he owns .com version of the name and he's gettng traffic because of your site and later in the thread he claims that he owns your domain. what a stupid fraud! i wish you luck and as boulder said keep your domains separate from your host.

Did you report the domain name to the other host too? Like I suggested! The host where the name servers are now pointed at..

I would be for calling that place too. and see just what they might be able to do.

Go with a reputable domain name registrar, for example - Moniker, not buying domains from your hosting company directly that usually is not a accredited registrar

    Moniker isn't good customer support-wise.

I would highly recommend NameCheap as their support is simply fantastic and their rates are also reasonablee

Well, it's basically like I was selling a site of mine and I pushed the domain to the guy.
He refused to pay up, I contacted GoDaddy with all necessary details (including a post by the guy where he actually takes pride in stealing this domain)
But they refused to reverse the transaction ( the other guy also had a godaddy account)

Guess, it was my fault too.

I don't think it's SitePoint who is at fault but HostMonster.
