    Hello,

I like to know how much money you make out of a website (s) before moving to a dedicated server. I am using a shared hosting now but don't like it much because they somtimes shut down my sites without noticing me first so I have to transfer to new hosts. I really like to have a dedicated server but dont make much money to afford it.

how much money you make before moving to a dedicated server?

    Thanks.

I think it depends on traffic of site first. No need for dedicated server if you have little traffic. I also would not buy one unless i made more than it cost me every month. try finding a good hosting company and use that before paying for dedicated server.

I make no money after retire from webmastering before, but the thrill to try managing by my own drag me and my friends to share couples of bucks to buy one semi-end dedicated server in singapore.

well, its worth if you know what you're doing, how to manage it, and ways to get maximum payout from the server. too bad at that time my friends and I dont have time to updte our sites. we just use it for small site/testing software etc

Maybe look into a vps first, and if you need later on, upgrade to dedicated

Someone said that VPS is the same as shared hosting except vps lets you to create account (s). VPS is a shared server with others.
    I make about $300 /mo so I can afford a dedicated server, should I?
    Thanks.

    yes...
try serverbeach or something... they were great when I had them...
Not the cheapest prices around... but my game only went down once because of a lightning storm.
    Great customer service

A VPS is almost exactly like a dedicated server. You get your own OS and everything with root access etc.

A semi-dedicated is just like a shared account (no root etc.) except instead of 200 other people on a server with you, there is 5 or 10.

A dedicated is a server to yourself and you have access to everything.

HostGator do a very good offer of an unmanaged dedicated server for only $75 per month.

I don't see any dedicated plan from Hostgator for $75/month. Also, Hostgator is the Planet's reseller so it should be cheaper if we buy directly thru The Planet.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks.

I went straight to a dedicated machine before making a cent. Only now after about 6 months am I starting to make a bit of coin with it (still not enough to cover the yearly cost). Love the reliability
