Hi, I'm hoping some of you might be able to give me some advice please... I own http://www.girliegossip.com and was wondering if anyone has any idea's how I can generate a reasonable income from it and generally make it bigger and better on a whole? I'm currently only making a very small amount from adsense, are the ads in the wrong places do you think, not bright enough perhaps? Any advice would be great. Also, what other methods can I use to generate an income? Any idea's to boost traffic etc? I'd also be interested in some idea's for the side columns, cool wordpress plugins etc that would look good. Your opinions and idea's would be very welcome, I'd like this site to be as good as it can possibly be, both looks and income wise!
The first thing I noticed was that your adsense ads aren't very targeted to the theme - it's mostly 'free templates' 'myspace layouts', when I think you want lingerie, and cosmetics and diet ads. But I'm not an adsenser, so I don't know how you alter that, though I believe you can...so - over to an experienced adsense user to answer that....
Having a target audience is key to online advertising success. Many online companies would love to reach your audience. Add a newletter signup box on your website. Create a daily or weekly newsletter and have e-commerce sites/designers/other marketers sponsor the newsletters. DailyCandy is a great model. You can also add affiliate sponsors to the mailings. Linkshare has many affiliate programs that offer products your audience would typcially purchase. Create GirlyGossips top tens or honors awards list. Submit listings via press releases online and to offline media. PRWeb is a great start. You can also hire an offshore freelancer to write them for you. Good Luck!
