Digg is run by a group that sticks together.

After spending a lot of time on digg and understanding how the system works I've came to the conclusion that the people behind the site edit it and lie.

I've had over 10 submissions hit the front page and then disappear within minutes. If you're wondering, no terms of service were broken and they received more diggs then any other story on the home page.

If you'll notice (as you probably already have) at least 50% of the stories that hit the home page are from a "select group". They all have the same friends and guess what... they are part of digg!

The only thing that I can suggest is to get in very good with the top users or find an alternative social site to be a part of. With the way things are going at digg, they will be the death of themselves.

I like to read at digg every once and again, but my reading has been on the downslide recently due to all the fake digging :( I rarely submit there, but do sometimes.

Digg seems to push a lot of news stories about techy items or right-leaning political stories. I don't find it that great in representing a fair balance of interesting news out there. It does have a cliquey feel to it.

I love the amount on 5min.com or something spam that gets posted on there. One huge site with fake users and stolen videos supported by digg.

if you reuse stuff from other site and put it in a adsense filled page, you stuff will be buried in no time. I've got quite a few submission went on front page and they stay on (mostly news story).

i consider myself as a legit digg user(no gaming it for my own benefit) and i buried blog spam all the time

I noticed that alot of the people that get to the front page usually post a controversial news article before anyone else. It's not easy to do that with thousands of users posting the same articles. You have to be first with a very catchy title or second might make it. Just a simple observation. I never make it to the front page in any of the bookmarking sites so I could be wrong.

I am well over Digg. Let those who enjoy it enjoy it. I'll just stay away and continue doing other things. Maybe one day Digg will head in a different direction?
