though i have installed IE7 on my pc + it is fully updated with microsoft as i use genuine windows but i prefer firefox over IE because it is more reliable, crash competent and user friendly
I normally use firefox but I check my sites appearance with IE 7 because the firefox does not give the true picture of a web site. For all other browsing activities, it is firefox
I just had 21 tabs (@DP) open, I'd like to see IE or FF hang with the measly 133MB that Opera was utilizing!!
21 tabs? 133MB? Are you serious? That seems kind of high to me. I will have to test that out, when I get home.
which seems high, the # of tabs or the mem allocation? I'm down to 2 tabs now and it dropped to 58,856K according to the task manager. That's the other thing, once IE/FF gets > 200MB or whatever, rarely if ever will you see it readjust...in the case of FF it just keeps growing & growing...you have to close the program to reset it!
Yeah. I tried it on my work computer, and didn't even make to 10 tabs and it was close to what you were using in Opera for 21 tabs. I wasn't aware of how much Ram IE uses. Oh well... doesn't matter to me because I have 2 GB of Ram in my computer at home. I rarely make it past 50 percent on ram usage.
So which one is better? IE FF or Opera? I have tried Opera once and it was great (layout point of view!), FF i was using it a lot (on the main pc which crashed.. lol) and IE6 is the easiest choice IMHO.. On FF i was having around 80 tabs usually! On Opera i have tried until 6-7 (didn't need more..) and on IE6 i usually have around 50 windows open lol I must say that the slowest is IE6
I actually haven't used Opera yet. I like both FF and IE7. I can't believe you just said IE6. I cringe when I am on a PC with IE6, and no FF installed. I can't live without tabs anymore. I always keep my system pretty beefed up so resources are never a problem for me. I am sure I would probably like Opera too. What would really be nice is if Microsoft would make IE7 more like Office 2007. This way you could keep everything relevant to your current task in view, by just alternating between the different tabs for the menu. I mainly use FF when I need access to a particular extension like SEOpen.
IE6 comes with windows so yeah I don't really like how IE7 works (and neither i like the new WMP..) so yeah i prefer old 6 version :/
Are you over 50 years old? I like both IE7 and WMP 11, 12, 14... whatever the latest version is. WMP has a very sweet layout now. The only thing I don't like about it, is that annoying you must configure a music service widget. It doesn't even have rhapsody. What a crock.
LMAO. I just ask because my Dad is 64 and misses Windows 98. He didn't like XP too much when I bought him a new computer when his old computer died. Most old people don't like change.
