As I am submitting my directory to other directories I am inevitably running into countless of other ideas for designing a better homepage. Some are really nice and simple like Starting Point. Others are really just practical putting all the categories upfront like DMOZ, others are like a combination or have too many distracting ads and banners. So which directory homepage do you like the best? My homepage is not so typical for directories because I figured I need to explain the concept first (a mobile directory can be accessed from your phone...web version different from mobile etc.). But still I could have done things better.
www.zorg-directory.com - i quite like mine. Simple layout, friendly on the eyes. I really like the icons i use. Similar structure to dirjournal (2 column).
i like zorg-directory.com for the simple design which puts a new perspective to a 2 column layout, .... does give me gr8 ideas to implement when i pick up my dir again.
Yes. Zorz and Blurb certainly look good. Iguides I think could be better if they got rid of that Featured Category column that seems to replicate the entire directory again. Seems like a waste of precious real estate. My 2 cents. Oh msolution- did you notice your wap site on the MilkMore directory? It looks slick ;-) Feel free to add some reviews to it so it has more meat. Also how about a nice backlink to m.milkmore.com if possible?
Alive Directory is a very good example of a good directory design, easy navigation and simplicity, that is how a functional template should look like, in my opinion. Meti
http://www.friendlywebdirectory.com is not that bad I like the professional style of Alive and the DirJournal looks great
