Most of the "experts" that "come over" were not considered experts before the ID group hyped them as such. And either way,that's one of THOUSANDS of scientists(most of which still believe in evolution). There is no scientific merit to intelligent design, because intelligent design is not a theory. *Poof* is not a theory. *Poof* is the easy way out. To be a scientific theory, there NEEDS to be a way to prove/disprove the hypothesis via scientific methods(, or at least draw out a flowchart of events. Big Bang theory allows you to at least trace it back to the moment it all start(or microseconds after), and could potentially be disproven(via planet/galaxy movement. If it wasn't all radiating outward from a central point, this would suffice to disprove it). ID does nothing like that. I would not vote for a guy who believes in intelligent design. This country was not meant to be run by religion, and if he can't separate Science from religion in this instance, why would I believe he could do that in other, more important circumstances? That aside, I'm sorry, but religion should not be taught in public class rooms. To admit ID as a possible theory, or even admitting it's a theory in the first place would allow it to be taught, and would be giving one religion(I'm sorry, but intelligent design IS a religious idea; it's just rebranded creationalism) preference over another. And as previously stated, it cannot even be a scientific theory, since it cannot be proven/disproven/has no evidence to support it. I watched the video(and several others in my day), and thought it lovely propaganda. And by the way, Darwin's doubts were fueled by the fact that he was a religious zealot, and could never come to terms with his own research and observations. He realized that all his evidence supported evolution, but his beliefs did not, and found it nearly impossible to reconcile the two. It's not because of a lack of scientific merit to evolution. State some points if you want to discuss. One liners have no place in an intelligent debate. Try Obama on for size. He is honest, admits the mistakes he's made, and is an impeccable speaker. The founding fathers explicitly stated that religion and the state[readublic schools] were to remain seperate. Oh yeah, and they were by and large deists, not Christians. Oh yeah, and they didn't subscribe to evolution theory since Darwin wasn't even BORN until 1809! The constitution was adopted(adopted, not written) in 1787. So no crap they didn't. Many would be dead by the time he ever wrote his theories down. Atheists didn't destroy anything. They just tried to keep seperation of church and state a reality. If you don't recall, this premise was actually what led the first settlers(aside from the Jamestown corporate settlement) over to America in the first place. How hypocritical would it be if we started violating that principle now, and mixed the two? Farewell positive reputation, it was nice to have known thee.
