Can anyone teach me how to play poker ? Looks like ppl make good money playing it online, is it kinda gambling or what i am pretty serious abt learning it now.. looks live we can make some real fast cash from it if we can play good enough.. anyone int to teach me online.. i don't learn much from reading the online learning links ..
I don't ever play poker, but if you really want to play, just use Google,it is the master of every thing.
I can show you the basics if you like, but unless you can guarantee yourself that you would never become addicted I would not recommend taking up poker. Its very addictive and the cost can be high.
Of course it's gambling. It's a fun hobby but I don't understand how some people depend on it to make their living. I play hold'em quite a bit, but only for fun or very little money.
Yeah, I would recommend reading a couple of poker books and websites, and if you would like to play for money, you can sign up at one or more online cardrooms, and deposit using online banking (take advantage of bonus or rakeback offers). You can practice at free or penny tables, or play games where people play decently with as low as 0.25/0.50 blinds. Some people make a living playing online poker because you play fast against several opponents who make a lot of mistakes, but a lot of people have problems with bankroll management (playing at too high of a stakes is a problem if you don't have the skill to consistently beat the players there, or if you have too small of a bankroll then you won't be able to survive the variance).
I can teach you how to play poker and loose thousands of dollars. Please, Do let me know if you're interested. By the way, Congratulations, GetJimmy, On your 8000th post.
If you are looking to learn to play poker then nothing is as good as http://www.pokkercards.com site . It gives you lots of basic materials like, rules, strategies, lots of poker articles, types of poker games.
I play on Pokerstars and make more money there than my 9-5 job. I play primarily $600NL, with $1000NL and $400NL depending on what is good. Yeah, poker is gambling, but there is an element of skill. Over many thousands of hands, the luck factor evens out and your profit comes from the skill factor. That's the beauty of poker. Any Joe can win against a pro on any given hand or night or week. (and it's the reason why the Joe's keep coming back) But the pros look at it from a long term perspective and don't let short term swings affect them. That said, if you think it's easy to learn and easy money you are wrong. I'm sure that there may be some people who just 'get it' and seemingly progress though the limits in a matter of months, but for most people it takes years and hundredths of hours of study and review to get decent. So ask yourself if you really want to committ to poker instead of making internet sites or getting another degree or working hard at your job and getting a promotion. The amount of effort will be similar. Cuz it's not easy money by any means. The statistic is that about 95%+ players in raked games are long term loosers, so think about that for a second and how it applies to you. As far as resources go, I've never heard of any of the two bit websites listed above. There are two authority sites on poker. twoplustwo.com and pocketfives.com are reputable and comprehensive and you don't really need anything else. There are also some decent coaching sites like card runners and stoxx poker. Basically, what I'm trying to say is poker is fun. Keep it fun. But it's probably not worth the opportunity cost to learn it to play like a pro.
