Hoover was appointed FBI director by a democrat and a democrat was president in 1950.

Remember the nazi Janet Reno and how the snatched Elian Gonzales and sent him back to Cuba even though his nother died to bring him to freedom.

Scary crap this government concocts behind the veil of secrecy. Usually to the detriment of the people.

I don't know how anyone who follows the stuff that gets declassified can tell me with a straight face that our government can be trusted.

That's why the foundering father put the 2nd Admendment in the Bill of Rights

There is always a conflict between the 'Federalist' and 'Republican' values

Hoover should have jailed himself for deceiving the american people. The guy was a cross-dresser having an affair with his second in command, but he had massive information on almost every american out there .
Can you believe this guy was head of the fbi? Bogart what does it matter if he was democrat or republican???
In my eyes both parties are the same.
There hasnt been a true democrate or republican president or politician in a long time.

Coming from the New York Times, you know this is a subtle attack on Bush.

Somehow the Times is trying to compare Guantánamo Bay, Cuba detension to Hoovers plan of suspension of Habeas corpus

The terrorists in Guantánamo are terrorists captured in a war zone. You do a background check and they all attended Al Qaeda training camps in Afganistan.

Anyways the war is still on. You can't release them or they will to back to the taliban and attack our troops.

Hoover was out of his mind but the Washington Post is trying to comapare the denial of habeas corpus to terrorists captured on the battlefield with weapons in hand.

Well I for one see a lot of similarities and I think there is nothing wrong with them bringing that into light. We all have to look at all the angles and reasons, past and present so we may make better judgements that affect our future.
