Very odd. I'm seeing the "Edit" link for both What's Popular and Hot Shop section. I'm logged in as you... Can't understand this one.. Can you do a log out, close browser and come back in???
Actually, set up looks reasonably user friendly. I'm sure we'll all have some observations as we move along. I gotta take a break right now from all this web stuff, though.
Guys... Don't forget that there is configuration to do under "SPOTLIGHT" also.. This is where you build little paragraphs with rich keywords and seed a search criteria for related products... The software will automatically build an SEO friendly url for your SPOTLIGHT page. You can make as many as you want. I would encourage you to make at least 20. I build these regularly and then do link-building against these specific spotlight urls (with the long seo-friendly links).. That has worked really well for getting on page 1 of Google if you 1) pick the keyword carefully based on a volume / demand search 2) use good / related anchor text in your in-bound links 3) have the keywords in the url 4) put the keywords in the title of the spotlight page... It's a recipe for Google Page 1...
Welcome Edit. I've sent detailed instructions and the financial incentive terms in PM. Please post when your DNS is complete and I'll configure your C4.us Niche Store (beta v0.1).
PM sent. Sent you an email response earlier. Will PM as well.. Please post when your URL DNS is ready and I'll set up your C4.us Niche Store ASAP.. We are at beta version 0.1... So there will be issues (that's why I need the testers). I'm also extremely interested in enhancement ideas to make this product huge, huge, huge... I was thinking this morning of a Blogger.com extension to allow for auto posting to Blogs... Anyone think that is a good idea? I have the API already running at Blogskinny.com, so it would be very simple to plug it in. Please provide feedback if that would be helpful at all...
Okay - Thanks for the feedback... I will put together something on that so people can react... I have to read a bit in the GData API to see what's permitted.. For starters, I'll build a place to write in your C4.us Niche Store and then way to tell C4.us to post your paragraph to Blogger.com... I'm also thinking of adding RSS to the SPOTLIGHT pages. Can you tell me when you've tested them as they are and if you think having an RSS capability on there would be useful. Thx
Great question.... Right now, I have it pulling from the vast RSS library (around 100,000) that I've amassed, using the searches that come in from your particular C4.us Niche Store as keyword seeds. I'm sure that's a little confusing. TRY THIS --- Do a search on something you'd remember in your store. Then click on ARTICLES, you should see your search string you just entered on the list. Then click on that phrase, you should get content related.... --- I think this works okay, because the search strings are all relevant to your niche (generally), so you're pulling RSS article content related... But I could imagine people wanting more control than that over the content in their Niche Store... I was thinking of proposing an option where you could A) Run ARTICLES as it is. (the easy option) B) Build your own list of RSS feeds and pull ONLY from those under ARTICLES. (more complicated, and perhaps worth charging $5 bucks for or something) Let me know your reactions... ARMY - Any troubles with the WHATS POPULAR or HOT SHOP sections?
As I delve into this, it occurs to me that, rather than burden this DP thread with a mountain details and specifics, it might be better if a private forum were set up for beta testers. I think it would spur more open discussion and the sort of brainstorming this sort of undertaking requires. Just a suggestion.
Had the same thought myself potentmix. Let me get on it.. ALSO: I'm going to roll-out what I'd like to call Beta v0.2 in a bit here.. The highlights: 1) CSS bugs fixed 2) Various Edit links fixed (WHATSPOPULAR, HOTSHOP). New functionality for posting RSS onto your SPOTLIGHT pages will come with v0.2.. My aim is to have v0.3 include the auto-posting to Blogger.com... I will also post a new forum location once I get that set up... I agree that's the right way to go....
K.. I think we should keep this thread going also, to see if any other DP folks are interested in joining us. But I agree that more private and permanent place to get into deeper issues would be needed anyway for post-launch technical support anyway.. So might as well start it now to start building the knowledge base... Army - Please post some feedback when you get to those sections. You found some great bugs yesterday (so far my best bug producer!!)... Others - if you'd rather PM, email or IM your issues. No problem whatsoever. Whatever you're comfortable with. ALSO - I've gotten a few PM's asking "what do I get for the $97?" To repeat: I AM NOT ASKING FOR MONEY NOW.. I am offering a revenue trade in return for your time (testing) and marketing (after public launch)...
