I made these for no reason at all other than to practice. I like working in this style and I want to make a series in all the same style. They're all set in the fringe of the fictional town of Harbury, a place where I plan to base a future comic strip on. I used SketchUp for the initial 3D, Poser for some of the people, and Illustrator for the lighting effects, borders, shadows, and many other things... I'm looking for comments and constructive criticism. I love discussing and improving my works and hearing opinions.
But I don't want a 3D look. I simply use 3D to get good perspective. I want this to look 2D, not something modeled and rendered.
definitely nice.. have an american comic illustration feel in it (very good).. i also like it much better in 2D as it is right now.. hope this practice will turn out to be a money making machine
I know exactly what you mean, and I've tried it. Shades of orange, red, etc.. But like that it doesn't seem to have the same, I dunno, "pop" that it has with the colors now. Thanks. This is completely a hobby.
Thanks. I really appreciate all the comments. When I make several of these I'll put them together on a website.
Not at all. I've done a few webcomics for kicks and giggles, but mostly I just like to do these for the hell of it, occasionally submitting to contests and other things.
Nice work. I like the way the simplicity draws you in, yet upon further inspection there is stuff going on. The food cart in motion, and the person running against the 'don't walk' signal in pic #1, for example.
