My site is only 8 weeks old so im still learning SEO. I have listed in hundreds of directories, working on blogs and articles now. My Dart SHop ranks very highly in Yahoo Aust, 1st to 4th spot on Dart Boards, Dart Shop, Harrows Darts, Nodor Dart Board. Only ranks 392 on Darts. In google i am not in 1st 1000 serps for darts. Im page 2 for Harrows Darts and Nodor Dartboards. Using Google PPC stats, i can see that out of my visitors, 97% come in via darts, the other 3% come in on the various other terms so its blatantly obvious i have to rank on darts. Is this an age issue, being only 8 weeks old? Am i sandboxed? I am in DMOZ, BOTW, Joe Ant, Alive and other high pr directories so will i get some pr and trust when google update next? Im using darts as anchor so what else can i do to get up on the single word darts??????? Would love some assistance or opinions.
instead of trying to target the word darts, think what potential customer might be searching for. stuff like, buy new darts, dart supplies, dart flights, cheap darts, etc might be a better investment.
I understand that and have these search terms and phrases but almost everyone that access via ppc types in "darts" and looking at GA keyword, "Darts" is predominant key phrase by 10 times the rest. I thought people would use terms like tungsten darts, cheap darts, best darts but even though they are, i think if you added up every phrase and term, the still wouldnt equal the sole keyword of "darts". Darts is definately what i need to rank on........somehow.
go to http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/index.php and search "darts" you are right that "darts" by itself gets a TON of search, but that also means that it will have a TON of competition. Other more specific terms get nice search volume as well. What about "dart supply"? You'll have much more luck if you get more specific...
Thanks Rgordon. I might have to just do the work around on the phrases and buy darts, best darts etc and i assume when i gain PR i will get access to just darts, in the serps. Hopefully next PR update is soon and hopefully i get out of the sandbox.
First, it is a new site and everything will be ok within the next 3 months. Second, clean up your SEO <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Darts Shop | Dart Boards, Equipment & Supplies</title> <meta name="description" content="Buy Tungsten Darts and Nodor Dart Boards from The Darts Shop, Penrith Australia." /> <meta name="keywords" content="darts, supplies, dartboards, dartsboards, accessories, equipment, dart boards, tungsten, harrows, nodor, boxer, nsw, australia, assassin, ameridart, ameri-thon, american, buy, Nodor" /> <base href="http://www.dartshop.com.au/" /> <meta name="verify-v1" content="sYPI2Y7naNEG1pkBFTXNOgpLLoNE/Ciqw81yA0q3Zzo=" /> Third start the link program with the following link text (see http://www.catanich.com/resources/200712.asp) and view source for the HTML. Notice the commonality between the "Page Title" and "Anchor Text". For submission info, http://www.catanich.com/link-popularity-enhancement.asp for sites that may be helpful. And finally, create and use (weekly) a Google Sitemap and setup a Google Webmaster Account. It will really help you. Also, since you are using the BASE HREF command, be careful of how the trailing "/" is applied to your internal links. You will get a "//" in some of your links. Merry Christmas
Thank you Jim, I truly appreciate your assistance and comments. I dont fully understand what you have told me but I am printing it out now and by sitting down and reading it, i should be able to understand it. If not, googling a few terms will sort it out for me. Thanks again.
