I have 60 websites and I find it rather difficult to personally try to find reciprocal links for each an every one of them. A lot of people say that reciprocal links are old news, and that one way links are better, etc -- and, well, one way links are better, but they're also much more difficult to obtain. So, I am content to stick with the reciprocal links, except that let's say I want to get 20 reciprocal links for each of my websites, that would mean 1200 links. Considering that 9 times out of ten a link request will yield no response or no thanks or a link exchange that winds up removed a week or month later -- I'd have to literally make 12,000 requests just to get 20 links on each of my site. That's not including all the work required. When I think about a link exchange I wont even consider linking with a website that will not place my link at the very least, 1 link away from their index page -- or preferably ON their index page would be better. Yes, that means I am after links from other small-ish sites. I don't bother contacting the Reuters website asking for a front page link exchange if you get what I'm saying. I also check every single website before I will consider a link exchange. I look at the other links that they've set up. If I see that they're linking to everyone and anyone, I wont bother linking to them. I like to see at least some standards there. I also check to see if they're using rel=nofollow, noindex, nofollow, htaccess or robots tricks to try to suck PR out of other people's websites without returning it -- and I also do a Google check to see if the page is actually listed. If the website passes the above criteria, I don't mind if it's a blog or a GEOCITIES site. I honestly couldn't care less -- just as long as it's all legit, ethical and above board -- and that I get a general feel of professionalism from the website. Now if you take into account that I have to CONTACT 12,000 websiites to get 20 links for each of my websites, I find that at least 80% of the websites I find are not suitable to link with. For example, they either have a link "directory" that has NO PR or search engine presence and they expect a reciprocal link for being thrown in amongst that trash, or they have a links page that's buried so deep into their website it may as well not exist -- or of it's not that there's SOMETHING. So taking all that I've said into account so far, that 12,000 contacts becomes about 60,000! I DO NOT have time to review 60,000 websites and put up with all the dramas and associated rigmarole that comes with trying to set up a link exchange. So what I would like to do is ask you to PM me and I will forward you a list of my websites. I would like to exchange links with you if your website adheres to the above requirements -- and if I set up a link exchange and you remove it a week later -- I WILL come and find you! I don't care of you're upgrading your site or restructuring or it was just removed for a few days because you're working on the template. I don't want to hear it. If I have a link to your website, I expect mine to be and STAY on your website. If you're cool with that, well looks like we can help each other out. OR, if you have a few websites yourself don't hesitate to send me a PM and give me a list of your websites. I'll let you know if I'd like to link back. I would like to post the links here, but you know how it goes -- people get all upset because they think you're spamming -- as if one link in a forum is actually going to be a part of a working advertising strategy, but yeah to save the risk of being mutilated by moderators -- I'll not post my websites *unless a mod replies and says it's ok -- that would be fantastic. It would save me a whole heap of PM'ing and trouble Or at least a link to a text file containing a list. A bloke is just trying to speed up a difficult and cumbersome process here -- any communication and requests are welcome. Oh and related websites only. I absolutely do not link to unrelated websites, and I do not link with websites that have 50,000 links on their link page. I only link with websites that have less than 100 related links -- and that I can see they've been thoughtfully gathered. There are not too many websites online that have LESS than 100 r elated links, letalone more than 100. Most sites that have more than 100 links -- well, they're usually just not worth setting up an exchange with.
Why dont you purchase directorys submissions from the buy sell trade forums there is many offers there and some are good.
ok, I'll go and find that section and have a look. However, as a rule of thumb -- directory submissions are rather useless compared to actual links from related websites, either on or one page away from their index page.
Try go to www.linkmetro.com an automatic link exchange service. It has 20,000 webmasters which want to exchange links with you.
You should buy some text links from the "Link Sales" Section Also , If you are looking for unlimited high pr .edu links you may refer to this - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=614006
I had tried linkmetro.com for a while and after a month I checked to see how many sites were back linked to me according to Google at it was zero, zilch, nada. I almost think Google looks for link exchange sites and block the link landing pages from the search engine. So now I pretty much stay away from exchange sites like this. Peace
I've been running websites for close to ten years now and never had a site banned from Google in my life. I joined two link exchange sites in the hope that it would help me to find links, because the process I described above is rather time consuming. To try and contact people for links is probably one of the most unfruitful tasks you can undertake as a web developer -- imho. Anyway, so I joined the link sites and you have to put a link to their website on yours to be able to use the service. I didn't really want to but I figured: "what's one link? It might be worth it if I can actually get people contacting ME for a link exchange". So, I put the link there. I then started receiving hundreds of link requests. What people were doing is joining the link exchange service and spamming the living DAYLIGHTS out of everyone -- I was getting link requests for Hotels in Vietnam, not English websites in Russia-- you name it. It turned out to be such a task, such a problem and such a hassle, I was getting rather annoyed. Many of the sites have link "directories", which are frickin' USELESS. They were put up "yesterday", almost always -- literally, they have no search engine presence and they do not care WHO wants to link to them. They offer a link in a directory that no one will EVER see and they expect you to put codes in your site, register and give them a PROMINENT link in return. I can't deal with all that -- it was giving me brain damage. Anyway I woke up one morning and checked my stats. Hmm.. slow day? "Um.. WHAT? NO GOOGLE LISTINGS? WHAT'S GOING ON HERE???". Yep, banned by Google. I guess Google figured that because my sites were associated with a gazillian link farms -- even though it wasn't "directly", because even though I was a member of the sites, I was still EMPHATICALLY SELECTIVE of which sites I would accept an exchange with. I must have received thousands and thousands of requests (butonly ever accepted less than a dozen between all my sites) -- to the point that in the end, I was making complaints to the management of the link exchange websites, insisting that what they're doing is utterly useless. I made suggestions like: - Do not let people mass submit link requests. - Do not allow people with link directories to mass submit, asking for prominent links in return. - The list goes on.. Anyway to cut a long story short -- that little endeavor cost me 5 years of work in which I spent tens of thousands of dollars building, scripting paying for programming help, etc etc. I will have NOTHING to do with ANY link exchange website ever again in my entire life. I have had to register a heap of new domains and start over again, because no matter HOW many requests I make to Google, I get no reply, no answer and all my websites except "one" are still burning in hell. So, I am sitting here recreating a new network. This is why I am so selective of who I link to. If I look at a website and even get the SCENT of a link farm, or link practices where the website owner couldn't give a rats elbow who he/she links to, I wont have a bar of it. I learned a valuable lesson here and it cost me a lot of money and 5 years of my life. My advice: STAY AWAY FROM LINK EXCHANGE WEBSITES STAY AWAY FROM WEBSITES THAT SELL LINKS If Google catches wind that you've even been within 15 clicks of one of these sites, they'll track you down and assassinate you -- your family -- your families pets -- your pets pets -- and all pets for the next 7 generations. Also, if you ever get a link request by someone who has a stinking website full of link-dodgyness -- make sure they get {{{TOLD}}} -- you're only doing them and everyone else a favor.
I would just hire someone, it's much easier than actually doing it all yourself. You should be able to find a full time staff member for 300-400 bucks on elance or whatever.
If you say diretory submissions are uselles let me say you are very wrong i did a lot of webdirectory submissions and it has very good effects ... Regards
If you don't think you can manage 60 websites, maybe you shouldn't have 60 websites. You can put more work and emphasis on running fewer sites and yield better results.
I am running the websites just fine thank you. I have 10 years web development, SEO and programming experience. I could run another 10,000 of these websites and still have time for a long lunch. The only thing preventing me from creating more is the cost involved with running eash site -- not my ability to be able to handle them. I am now placing my emphasis on finding links, and that is why I am making requests on various webmaster forums.
I didn't say "directory submissions are usless". Please re-read, and follow the context. You'll find that I am referring to websites that have installed directories -- and those are most certainly useless and dealing with them will do more harm than good.
hi, directory submission is still worth something , its easy to get PR2 with just 500 Directories @MrLeN well can u plz explain what u actually need ,in just one line
DO you manage 60 websites by yourself? If yes, you're either a genius or confused... I bet most of them are affiliate sites because I cannot see how anyone can be able to manage 60 websites that are all original. Keep up the good work.
I'm certainly not confused-- so I must be a genius. Thanks for the compliment No I do not 'manage' them. I built them and I watch over them, promote them, give them PR, etc. Content is handled by visitors.
Managing 60 sites by yourself is very impressive. I have 12 sites and have a hard enough time updating, reviewing and maintaining these on a daily bases. You must tell us your trick. I definitely could use some pointers here. Peace
The short story ('coz I'm kinda busy)... The time consuming part is writing all the php and setting up the websites (which are generic -- but can be updated individually later). However, there's a lot of code you can use over and over again, no matter whether you have 12 sites or 1200 sites. All websites have an index.php -- nothing special or strange about that -- most websites have a forum so I install that (SMF).. spend a bit of time adding unique forum sections. SMF has a cool ssi script which allows you to post forum articles onto the index page -- so as the forum gets used, the index gets updated (much like a blog, except it gets updated real fast because there's lots of members) -- good for search engines. I also have a contact, sitemap, etc etc -- these are all reusable. I use the same code and link them all from a home dir account. Again -- doesn't matter of you have 12 sites or 1200. Code is the same. I have a config file on each site which changes the site name and various other attributes of the website so that each website has a theme. I have written various scripts which pulls videos from YouTube, RSS from eBay (with my CJ id), rss from Google and RSS from MSN. The pages are totally different in content, except the code is much the same for those portions of the website. I used to put the RSS on my index page but I learned a lesson from that. Google dosn;t like it! But MSN and Yahoo don't mind so I still use the RSS, but just not on the homepage. I also wrote a script that allows me to mass produce web pages by simply inserting keywords. So I can get 15,000 keywords, cut and paste them all into a textarea and the script will generate 15,000 pages and a sitemap for them. However, I am holding off on this be cause again, Google doesn't like it -- so I might put that in a directory, disallow Google -- but allow MSN and Yahoo (Yahoo loves it!). I'm still thinking about all that. Then to top it off and make sure each page is unique, I have a page-top.php and page-bottom.php for each site and write something unique there. Takes an hour or two to set up each site -- takes a bit of work to get a few members happening, but once the site has started -- it's good to go for years. All I have to do is pop in from time to time and strangle people on the forums for being nuts. One I have everything running, I am going to add an admin area which will allow me to edit the top and bottom includes via text boxes -- will save me from having to upload and download stuff, or I can just get someone else to do it, and they don't have to use FTP or know any programming. I will also install TinyMCE for wysiwyg functions. I have 60 websites and I have pretty much completed them. However, about half of them still don't have that top and bottom page include filled in for the extra unique content. I've been working 24 hours straight right now, and I'll probably work another 24 to get it all done. I've been building the whole network from scratch for a month now -- with all the spare time that I have, but I am also a web developer for a large US company, so that takes a lot of my time and leaves me pretty tired. I am starting this new network from scratch for the reasons stated in my initial thread. My aim is to have the whole network running over 10,000 visitors a day by the end of 2008 -- which isn't really that much traffic between 60 websites. I'll also likely spend $5-$10K on promotion efforts during that time. Why 60 sites? Why not just create a few and work hard on them? Well, that's just not my style. Everything I've ever learned and taught myself -- 5 years of coding and learning programming and, well everything -- it's all been geared up to run a large network of unique search engine friendly websites. Once I get it all running properly, and once I no longer need to work for a company, and once I have all my days to myself, I will create a network of tens of thousands of websites. I've got it all sorted -- just don't have the time. I'd post a couple of examples -- but yeah, worlds worst crime and all that.. *ok back to work now*..
I'd hate to hear the long story, I'm kinda busy too. You're cruising to get banned, or at the very least your gaming the system with web spam... auto generated sites are crap and won't produce you any sustained income even if you do have some short term success with gaming the search engines. Try to find something in your area of interest that you can provide a true resource about, rather than farming for low value ad clicks, from keyword spam sites, I'm sure you'll have better success and will get out of that company... which is never a winning solution.
