Hello everyone, I'm new here :)
Does anyone else have photography related niche and how is it doing for you?

Mine is very bad, I only get about 0.15 per click.
I also find that people that come to my site don't click on ads that much, I have about 300 unique visitors per day, but only about 4-5 clicks :(

You're complaining about 0.15 per click? Get more traffic and you should make more. That's a good CPC.

Some clicks pay as little as 1/2 a cent when your smart priced. Work on traffic and add placement to earn more money

That's because he doesn't have a lot of traffic. Imagine if he got over 10,000 unique visitors with $0.15 clicks and over 500 clicks. Do the math.

You should be patting yourself on the back with 0.15cents/click.

I'm still working on optimizing my site for more traffic, but even now, I think that 4-5 clicks per 300 unique visitors is not that great.

It takes me approx. 4 months to earn $100.
But I guess I need more traffic like most people say.

With 300 uniques and only 4-5 clicks / day, I'd say work on CTR before getting more traffic.

I think I agree. I think people who come to my site are more like technically knowledgeable people, so they avoid clicking on ads.

Do you guys think it's always a good idea to blend in ads with the site design and content, or is it sometimes good idea to highlight ads with different colors and backgrounds?

Currently all my ads are blended with the site design and content, but I'm thinking experimenting a little with different colors.

It really depends on your current setup. If you'd like me to take a look at it, PM me. If not, if you are currently blending, try to NOT blend. Like you said, highlight the ads.

If you had the current setup for a while (which I assume you did), you may need to change things and spice it up (multiple color palettes).

You should do some a/b testing and that will give you the right answer for your site. BTW 0.15 is not bad atall. good luck!

Photography is an excellent niche. You need to commit yourself to it in some respects. Having some articles will not be enough. If possible try and make it a community, so that your users themselves provide content.
You may need a dedicated server for this or can use Ning or KickApps who can host it all for you.

The best photography (and Art) community, to my knowledge is http://www.deviantart.com/

On my photography site, my average is $0.27 per click, although today it was $0.15. Neither is bad if you get enought traffic to drive the numbers up.
