    Hi,

If I make a flash clip and I include a cartoon character in it, let say peter griffin from family guy, am I breaking any laws?

    Thanks in advance

    Yes and no.
Yes if the character you using have a policy that prohibite others to use it without written consent.
Yes if you are using the character without stating clearly the owner's name.
No if the character is for public use.

    No prob.

"Family Guy is a registered trademark of Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. FAMILYGUY.COM is a trademark of Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. ..."

You can go to it website family.com and search for any TOS etc.
If you are confidence using the character won't infringe any copyright, the use it.

You can send them an email asking for permission to include it in a flash clip, i dont think itll be a big deal if you dont profit anything from it (money wise)

No you can not use it for any reason whatsoever without permission. Period. End of story. Anyone that tells you different is totally wrong.

Peter Griffin is not for public use. Family Guy a registered trademark and belongs to Twentieth Century Fox.

Using it without permission is basically like stealing a car and driving it around. Then when you get caught, you claim "Well, I was not going to sell it and make a profit, I was just going to drive it around for fun".

It's not your car. You can't take it.
