    I would say that common topics forums are too common, one issue is how do you draw the crowds away from the current existing popular forums for general topics to your forums?

    I would think niche forums would be more enduring and easier to start up.

    May I offer some suggestions :

    1. Get a Vbulletin or at least phpbb3
    2. Get a skin that is appealing to the masses
    3. Mod some interesting features into the forum to get started.
