ArticlesBase.com allows you to put up to 3 links in the article and 3 in the resource box. Most do not allow them in the article, but there is sometimes a way around this. If you construct the article in such a way where a resource from your site is required reading in order to understand the rest of the article, some allow you to link to that resource.

That said, I probably wouldn't try this practice until you get one or two articles approved with the company so they don't think you are just spamming them. You should probably just focus on the content of the article itself - try to make it worthy of being picked up for reprint and don't by any means make your article a promotion for whatever it is you are selling. The less selling and the more information you provide the better.

It also helps to ensure your keyword density is around 5% especially on EzineArticles.com. They have a tool for the publishers that allows them to determine what the most important keywords in the article are. If you put the keywords in the right proportion (3% - 6% of the total content density) you will increase the chances that someone will post it on their site - this is far more important than just getting the article "approved" because it means you build link popularity without doing anything more yourself.

I have heard that submitting your content to article directories may harm hits you are getting to your content. Fo example, suppose someone post my submitted content to his own website who have high PR than mine. Then that guy site will get more hits than mine. Is it true?

Like I mentioned before, the theory is whoever the search engines find first is who gets credit for being the "original". Supposedly every time the content is found after that is looked at as a "copy" and it is put into the "supplemental results" on the last page of the search. So the only stipulation is you need to post it on your site and wait until it is in the index of the search engines before posting it elsewhere.

Frankly, if you are not that concerned about that one page being in the SERPs it probably doesn't even matter. I posted an article to my website here that I already had posted in article directories for several weeks http://www.shuttercontractor.com/ex...utters-when-installed-using-shutter-loks.aspx. After this page was put into the index of Google, I saw a large jump in terms of ranking. This means the content still counts toward the overall keyword density of the site.

And in this case, if you do a search for "removing shutter loks" in Google, I still come up on the first page, but I am outranked by the article I posted at EzineArticles.com - probably because they have a higher PR or they are considered the "original". The only thing you might have to worry about is whether you have to compete with your own article for top placement.

it seems a shame that you can't post any articles you've written on both your site and in an article directory (I do understand about the dupe content thing tho).

a good article would make good content for your site but I suppose if the aim is to create backlinks it's a sacrifice worth making.
