I was wandering, is there a benefit in making the keywords you want to rank for on your site bold. Say for example, I worte an article and it contained three or four of the keyword(s) that I want to rank for each paragraph. Would there be a benefit in making these keywords bold? Also is there a benefit in making some of the keywords in an article on your homepage into links that link to the homepage, so basically the link wouldn't take the user to another page when they click it, or would the search engines think that was spammy. I was thinking about this becasue I own a blog and update my site, and everyday an article will go off the homepage and onto the second page of my site, so the links in those articles on the second, third etc pages would eventually take the visitor back to the homepage. Are both my ideas good for SEO or both bad and I shouldn't even consider it? Cheers
You should always have on your pages a link to your homepage using your main keyword\phrase on your pages, this can be done by turning one keyword into a hyperlink. As for making a few keywords bold it wouldn't hurt, in theory some believe bolded words stand out more to search engines, it won't have a negative value on your site.
Yes, as long as the internal link structure matches the same as all the other pages, place the link on all your web pages in the same location.
OK, but what about this for example. This article is on my homepage, the url is abc.com Now if I do that, link that keyword to the homepage, even though the article is on the homepage, I won't have any problems with my rankings and it won't hurt my position in the SERP's?
OK, so how many keywords should I make bold per article? As many as possible or just a small number like 3-5?
yes bolding shows Google that it is an impotent keyword but do not bold every word its kind of like a <h2>
Does it say that in Google Webmaster Tools or another site, have you got a link to the page it says it please? Cheers
Someone on an other DP thread wrote that only the <strong></strong> tags are better for SEO. <b></b> tags won't help. And I think this is true. I think the header tags h1 and h2 also carry more weight. These should include your anchor texts - your keywords.
A small number like 3-5 bold keywords should be the most that you use or you'll be flaged a spam in Google.
I have found underlining the text works well also, especially if its just one or two keyphrases. Bold text has been abused so much over the years, so my bold density for targeted keywords remains well under 50%. With underlining, 100% density for targeted keywords is no problem for me.
