My brother runs vista, and I honestly can't stand the user interface. It's cluttered with a bunch of junk I couldn't possibly ever use, it's proven to be very unreliable it's still not very compatible with some software, games and hardware. I think a lot of loyal Windows users might end up heading over to Apple (myself included). Microsoft have really failed on this one.
I like vista..the graphic enhancement.. BUT..Vista is too slow..minimum RAM it need is monstrous 1GB. Even my laptop has 1gb ram is still not enough. XP is good..I prefer XP for now but would like to see vista developed into light OS..something that not eating RAM too much,.
Okay the thing about vista is that Bill Gates once said in 1981 '640K of memory should be enough for anybody.' So why does he make an O/S that needs 640Gigabytes
i been running Vista Ultimate 64bit for a long time now and it still runs perfect... i can understand at first why people hated it becuase lack of support but now most things will run on it and has drivers for it.. I Love Vista
Just check all the latest products and they have the Vista compatible tag on it. Vista is like every other OS ever to be released. Software developers and Hardware manufactures kick and scream whenever it requires them to retrain tech or buy new SDK's. Its like bringing a kicking bull to the slaughter house. Only in the case of the bull it is not happy in the end. With the manufacturers in the end they generally see that the OS manufacturer was right.
That's what happened to me. I got my new Dell last week. I didn't have a choice. I asked if I could have XP, but no. And under the terms of the lease I can't format and install my own copy of XP. It's taking a bit of getting used to. To be honest I can't tell the difference in RAM, because my old home office PC is over two years old and this notebook is brand new. If I had two new notebooks side by side with XP on one and Vista on the other I could find out. What annoys me though is it asks for permission all the time. When moving files or deleting them. I mean not once, but I gotta do it twice. Maybe I can switch that off. Eye candy does nothing for me. When I get a computer I change the desktop to solid black.
Vista +1 for me would never go back to xp. but only two things I use are the search bar and drop down on address bar. most other stuff is turned off.
Vista takes more to run and generally goes slower as I hear and also has for me. XP works for all as some have said, Vista is not yet compatible with all software, etc. Vista's layout is nice and easy to use, however it just takes a bit much and the updates are kinda a pain. I had a bunch of problems with Vista and software I have. I switched back to XP and all was good. If you are just lookin for a cool layout, I use windows blinds.
You might take notice that more and ore people are taking sides with Vista now. Expect more as SP1 nears.
If Vista is so great why is Microsoft still selling XP? Why are people still requesting it to Dell, HP, etc?
XP had a similar reaction when it first came out. Vista will keep improving and hopefully a service pack will be released soon.
They should have waited to release it when all apps could run on the 64 bit version. The problem is the software isn't keeping up with the new hardware technology.
I personally like vista, there are some flaws but there are also quite a few improvements, for me it runs slower but thats all good cus i have 3 gigs of ram. Personally when i see all these people saying "vista just sucks" it pisses me off cus it tends to be people who haven't even come close to using it and if they have used it they did for only 5 min ect. Sure vista has changed alot of things, the interface is different but thats not totally a bad thing. Anyways im still looking forward to seeing the first service pack. Also i wouldn't change to vista from xp but my computer came with it so its all good. And personally i will always like it better then macs.
