I think the most logical conclusion is that the calender simply stops and restarts - these doomsday theories are simply massive money makers seeing as fear equals money. History is full of failed predictions. Period. I'm a Christian, and the bible actually states that no one will be able to predict the cataclysmic except God himself. Those are my own beliefs anyway, everyone has the right to believe in what they like.

who said the world had to end? does nobody read anymore seriously. all it means is the earth and the sun will align with galaxy and it is possible that the magnetic fields and north and south poles could change and everything could kinda flip upside down where the north pole would be like mexico and what not the world would try to adjust after that with constant earth quakes and huge floods for the first thousands of years. And if you do your research the mayans have text/pictures explaining what would happen on that day which shows two of the mayan gods flooding the world.
LOL. The mayans had no idea about the planets or poles aligning or any of that crap! Do you even know what this calendar is about? They had 3 calendars. The one that ends on Dec. 21st 2012 was their spiritual calendar. They also had a physical calendar with 365.25 days etc etc. That one goes on forever. They mightve known a thing or two about the planets or our poles but they didn't give it an end. They didn't care about this planet as much as we do. The spiritual calendar ends on that date. It only had 360 days because it had absolutely nothing to do with the physical world or how long it takes the earth to go around the sun. They were not brilliant astronomical scientists they were just highly spiritual.

Good job, you read some Mayan conspiracy book so now you think they were magicians or something. How did they know all this, did you ever ask yourself? Where they superhuman? No. If you knew anything you'd realize the Tzolkin (the calendar that ends in 2012) was a religious calendar and was anti-materialism and against the physical world. So planets aligning or other physical occurrences would be completely irrelevant to the Tzolkin. I'm not even gonna argue anymore, because obviously you're spewing out something you read in a conspiracy book or youtube video and its getting ridiculous. For people who does not believe in any prediction, whatever happens in your life a good amount of it is planned and executed well before you come to know about it ,e.g some b***ard reporting your website to google as selling links today, you will come to know it only after 3 months. Simmilarly world war III, many countries are already preparing for it, many terrorist organization are collecting funds so that they can buy few nuclear weapons , when they get few of the nukes, every country will get involved But exact date , no one knows, there is a planned date however, and 2012 is quite a possibility. But it can be take more years, since we human beings always slip while executing the tasks assigned to us, so no one can actually predict the end of world in that sense, but believe it that at least millions of people are planing for it.
