Clear Webhosting?

I know this seems like a stupid idea, but will make sense by the end. I suggest that we clear the web hosting board. Why, you ask? I think people are joining the forum just to get there few posts and advertise there. You should do it to see who is truly an active member of the forum and will repost. This will also clear it of old members and web hosting companies who no longer exist. This would probably be good for DigitalPoint and may let go of a little server stress. This could turn out to be a good idea.

If they do not touch the post counts of the users then it wouldn't affect them at all. I want them to reset it which would clear the whole thing so it would start fresh and then users can start reposting and the ones reposting are most likely going to be guaranteed to be more active than the ones that are on there. There are almost 200 pages, I guarantee it is not of all active users.

That could also cause undue stress on the servers considering how big DP has gotten.

How do you figure? Removing over 200 pages of stress off the server, I do not see how that could add stress and even if it added any it couldn't possibly be as much as it has. Also I am sure it would take FOREVER for it to get that filled again anyway.

Consider the post counts...iTrader ratings...missing URLs...see where I'm going? How can you even guarantee that those posts are dead? Then the reposting of threads by active members is a waste of time and resources.

Besides 200 pages is only about 1% of the total threads on DP. It's not as easy or beneficial as you make it out to be.

Alright so, by agreeing with you, I am going to change my opinion. I think we should clear the last 100-150 pages then. We can almost guarantee that these are unused and untouched for awhile.

    For Example:
I am going to look at page 51. The first one on there is "free PHP host - adult content okay" by the user aussieone. Alright. The last post in that was October 17th. Speaking as today is December 20th you can say its been over two months since that has been touched. Now lets look at the user, Last Activity: Nov 5th 2007. This means they have not logged on in over a month but yet they still get to be advertised. Now I open the auctual website. It seems to be under construction? Hmm, that was a good RANDOM CLICK! I went to the 51 page and clicked the first one to get a page that is inactive and under construction. Why shouldn't this be deleted.

I agree that particular post may be dead...but that still leaves iTrader and post count that is attached to particular post. That is where the problems lie...the database is HUGE (just ask Shawn) and why fix something that isn't broke? Cluttered maybe but not broke.

Well if its cluttered then maybe it should be cleaned. If it was cleaned it would be easier to navigate. I never said we should fix it, it was a suggestion to try to clear inactive posts and so that DP isn't advertising things that dont exist or aren't loyal to it.

They aren't about to do that. Not many forums would.
