i just read another story in indonesia where this happened...it happens a lot but this was the first time this year in canada so it got in media bigtime

 

Honor killing is horrible, but somehow it's not limited to Islam only.
In India you will get to know about fathers killing their daughters (And even sons) for falling in love with a guy or girl they don't approve of. And it happens in every community and religion. Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims.

I was reading the newspaper this morning and found a news that a father killed his daughter as well as her lover because the lover was of some other caste. Few days ago a Sikh family killed their daughter and burnt her corpse for the same reason.

May be closed mindset about the family honor is the reason for these kind of killings?

Oh brother! Why do you put the blame on religion when it is the culture that is to be blamed! I am defending all religions here, not just Islam. Religion doesn't teach to to kill, it is the closed minded, barbaric culture that teaches the concept of honor killing.
