My site, wearestyle.co.uk is currently 2 weeks old-ish. I'm getting 80-100 hits per day on average. Just wondering whether this is good?

And how long would it take to get to 1000 hits/ day and how could i acheive this?

All due respect to deccanbazaar, no, that is not good. In fact, it sucks. Sorry.

    You are not trying.

You should be getting that from just one source you are advertising on.

It takes less than 30 days to get 1,000 daily hits.

Do you have any proof on how to get this?

Anyways, if your site is new, that then is a good figure. Give it a few months to pick up on popularity, promote it more and you'll get it there.

To really answer your questions there is not time frame when you will receive 1000 hits per day. It might be never. It might be tomorrow. It all depends on you.

I can create a website today and never touch it again and in 5 years it will still probably not get 1000 hits a day or even close to it. If you market it, promote it, advertise it then you will achieve your goal. If you want to get 1000 hits per day without advertising then you should work on your SEO.

Pick 3-5 good keywords for your site and try to work on that. Get backlinks to your site with those keywords and soon enough you will be ranked higher on search engines. But it all depends what keywords you choose. If you can get in top 5 in search engines you should be getting 1000 + more hits per day.

Submit your site to directories and search engines, see if someone wants to exchange links with you. All of that will help. Good luck!

Where are your hits coming from? netpox is correct - it's down to you - make sure that you do your marketing and get lots of backlinks and you'll get traffic :)

Good luck - you're off to a good start! :)

"Proof"? Come on, man. We are talking only 1,000 hits here.

The reason why so many can't get that many is because they don't work it. They don't want to spend the money for ads. They are looking for free shit, and just about all of it doesn't work. They are lazy. They make excuses. They do crap methods, like link exchanging, signatures, SEO, and THAT is what takes time. And even then, they don't work for 99.999% of the people out there.

They then think that it takes at least a couple of months to see such numbers.

    Nope.

Is it no wonder so many quit within one year of buying their domain.

Putting in the right ad in Google, Yahoo, MSN, and a few more search engines will bring in at least a couple of hundred by itself.

Maybe you shouldn't be SO critical.

My site is 2 weeks old, i've never actually had a website before- that's why i was asking for the advice. Not someone to post completely offensive things onto my thread.

Getting a 1000 visitors a day is easy but I wouldn't advise a novice to spend money on adwords if he doesn't have any idea on how to convert these people in cash...
BY the way, ingenious techniques and fresh ideas often come from people looking for "free shit"... After all, this probably why you are here too, looking for free advise, ideas and industry news... free shit!

Perry Rose, this is the ever popular discussion, whether buying links is the answer..you stated that link exchange and SEO are crap solutions, but I think a lot of people might disagree.

Are your marketing methods purely running ads on Google etc? just curious?

I am not saying one method is better than the other I just think that you start doing that once you know you are getting solid clickthroughs etc. 1000 hits a day is solid traffic to start to tell you those statistics (CTRs) if then they are substantiated maybe then go into ads to get to the next level...

I would be very interested in your suggestions for success..

    This totally depends firstly

On the amount of time and effort you put in to your website if you are focusing
on SEO optimization, or marketing and advertising your website.

How much time you are dedicating to your website for each of these key points, if any.

Your websites niche aswell if you are marketing and advertising your website are you targetting the right people, the right websites to get this specific traffic.

I can help you market your websites if you would like, but for know how about reading my articles here

    www.back-links.org

In my personal opinion, if you try your hardest with any website you can get 1000 hits in one weeks time, with no money spent, but that would take someone who does not do anything else each day of that week except market, and they would need there strategies all layed out ready to attack.

I believe you could easily do this, in 30 days.

    Will.

PM me if you want any help or advice or anything.

    itliberty,

    http://www.thelist.fm/marketing-advertising.shtml

It's how the big sites became big.

Work it. Give it six months, and, hopefully, you will be able to quit your job.

After all, the big boys on the block started out with nothing.

They did it. ... So can you.

Joanne - are you talking about unique visitors or page loads when you refer to 'hits'? My 6 month old site averages about 450 page loads per day by 175 unique visitors. My 2 year old site averages 258 daily page loads by 36 unique visitors. Why is the older site getting less traffic? It's a much narrower niche that I don't do a lot of promotion for.

Is most of your incoming traffic coming from the links you are building (blogs, forums, exchanges) or from search engines? Looking at where you are currently having success can give you an idea where to focus in the future.

That said, I finally have gotten to the point where I don't live and die by my daily site stats. I judge my sites more based on their income. Who cares if I only got 1/2 as many hits as normal today if I made twice as much?
