YPN for US residents only?

Just curious, have never even bothered to look at their site or the requirements but many state that to enter the YPN program you have to be a resident in USA, right?

Well if thats right, than how come I have seen just today 2 sites that use YPN and those are definitively not a USA based sites or the owners of the network is resident in USA (one example, the private television network in Italy, Mediaset, they use YPN on their site).

    Anyone can lighten me up?

Until they get caught like the bloke in the U.K. who just lost 5K in earnings once he was caught.

Some try to do this by using fake SSN's etc.. Once caught they lose it all.

    Be warned..
    ;-)

But others get in contact with someone who has a account in the US and run th ads on their site.

Problem with that? Yup.. YPN BANS folks who have out of US clicks. So say you hare in the middleast, the ones clicking most likely would be say.. Middle Eastern Folks.. Therefor you get banned.. It is a reciprocal circle, Start here thinking you are fine then "BANNED.

But hey, folks will try it anyways.. Folks will constantly ask if YPN allows ads out of the US but on this site I know there are Quite a few posts stating otherwise as well as the TOS that says the same thing.

Not downing your post though, yours was insightful and asked a bit different..:D

    Happy Thanksgiving..
(errr.. If you celebrate that..) ;)

I think ypn will never come out of usa, so better is you move to usa if you really want to use ypn.

Don't blame it on Yahoo. No harm done to you. They have the right to choose when and where to serve or not to serve.

C'mon it's not like without YPN, you can't get rich. With YPN so what? and without YPN so what? There're hundreds of better ad networks out there for you to begin making money. "Don't wait for the rain," I say.

Well said, but the problem is that in this case we are not speaking about FOLKS, but we are speaking about a powerful network private TV station of Italy, the owner is Berlusconi (kinda friends with Bush, so that can explain pretty much maybe LoL).

The ads I saw were on the TV News web portal, so it is not like they can really hide that.

YPN ( Yahoo Publisher Network ) is available for US residents only. In my opinion, I feel that the move to Yahoo Publisher Network was possibly a bad one. Sure the click costs are much, much higher for most of the keywords involved however, the click through rate is so much lower that im not any better off and im having to put up with worse service and sub-standard reporting along with now concerns (some outlined above)over if im being credited correctly.

Even though the few clicks from YPN is higher paying than Google and, once they got it right, the targeting wasn't too bad. I suspect they are discounting quite a few clicks as coming from other than the USA or surfers do not trust Yahoo as well as Google.

I also do not like the pending clicks and available clicks reporting they do. Once earned there should be no "pending". Anyway, moved the whole site back to adsense and saw an immediate uptick in income for that site although the clicks paid less.

BUT this also depends on the site. You can see your earnings almost double once you added YPN along with Adsense - on different pages for sure, but I don't like their lack of ads. It seems to be very true that my number of clicks on Yahoo are down percentage wise compared to Adsense, but some click are paying 10 times what Adsense is. I'd target a few pages and just watch them. I watched my Adsense channels for over a month, picked out my low earning pages and gave them to Yahoo.

Some of sites do better with AdSense and some better with YPN. Seriously it depends on the topics. CTR with YPN is much less, but the clicks often pay more. Took a lot of experimenting to figure out on which sites YPN works best!

If you try to comparing ad unit ecpms between both programs, YPN is the worst traffic will have, but the ecpm is still almost as high as adsense because the YPC epc is 4x what adsense pays.

So, you want to confirm YPN pays better? Lets try tweak your site to make adsense more profitable (removing ads from low content pages, disabling whole ad spots because of low ctr, blocking MFAs, etc.) and you still couldn't get adsense to even come close to what YPN is paying for the same traffic. Adsense has better (and more varied) ads, but YPN is just kicking ass on eCPM!

YPN owns Adsense, end of story.

    Maybe I'm biased.

Always the same old story .....

I disagree with some posts though, I believe YPN will eventually expand to other countries.(I think a few months ago there were open invitations but Yahoo never got back to the ones that I know - maybe some got exceptions).

At the end of the day, there are many ways to skin a cat and the market will always "balance out" prices. So even if you are in Turkey and you target specific US traffic mostly, there are still lots of ways to monetize it.

Does it state you need to be a US resident? I couldn't find it. However it does state that you need a TIN or SSN - an alien can get a TID. Sure, the traffic should be mainly US based - that's not hard for most of us. I am UK but 85% of my traffic is US.
