The Saudis don't really mean it. Too much International attention is being drawn on their kingdom. Saudi Justice Minister Abdullah bin Muhammed al-Sheik told al-Jazirah newspaper that the pardon does not mean the king doubted the country's judges, but instead acted in the "interests of the people." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22293189/
The stupid King Abdullah of Saudia Arabia thinks that the punishment was right, but he says he follow the peoples will to not punish. What a load of crap.
If we really want to show them we are tired of their laws, all we have to do is stop consuming their oil!
If the US started building nuclear plants we can reduce our reliance on foreign oil by at least 50% The US has not built a new nuclear power plant since 1979
nor a new oil refinery since the 70's...add that to all the various blends we have to have thanks to the EPA and it makes our oil more expensive and harder to produce.
New refineries wouldn't help much. Nuclear is the way to go. In Japan they are building "all-electric homes" that requires no oil for heating or gas for cooking or hot water. Over the next 10 years, Japanese oil demand will decrease 1 million barrels per day
Exactly.. I heard it was closer to 80%... What we need is a real energy policy.. Not this joke of a policy making car makers get 35MPG and giving them 13 years to do it.. What a complete joke... Here is a place Bush has failed miserably IMO... We need fuel economy standards of 100MGP in 6 months, or you cannot do business in the US. We need to build new refineries. Something also not done in 30 years We need to eliminate SUV's. We need to Drill in ANWAR. We need to build Nukes. We need to focus on vegetable based fuels, like bio-diesel and ethanol. We need to stop using foreign oil completely...
