Ok I found a free phpld script in zip file. Now what do I do. I have no clue where to from here except get a domain name. Any help would be great.
have you ever uploaded any site/files to a hosting account? if you have done... then you just need to see the INSTALL file. (you need to know how to upload files, create a database and change permissions for files.)
get a domain name get a hosting service install the script tweak a lil bit (ads, sponsors) promote the site to other people by giving them FREE submission wait for couple month and start charging people for submission.. get good pr find a buyer sell.
for a script to be install, you have to read its "readme" file or "instructions" Do you have any experience with webserver before?
So what's your interest in directory? You've heard you can earn few $? No you won't. Waste of time for a newbie. Better start from simple website about your DOG or CAT. Even for that you will need to read and read, learn and learn...
Thanks for your info, but thats not the know how im looking for. I never asked if I was going to make money from one. I asked how to install one.
I hate to sound negative but there are a gazillion posts on starting a directory, IMO if you are too lazy or lack the knowledge to do a simple search and a little research, you are probably wasting your time starting one. You will find in this forum if you make an attempt to get things done yourself and do a bit of research then come back with intelligent questions folks will be very helpful.
WOW.....people here are pretty rude. I have tried...wait there is no need to explain myself here. If you want to help then great. If not there is no need be posting here.
Just unzip the file and import the folder with the index file and the .php file into your root directory.
We are not rude. This is you who sounds ridiculous. When you're talking about directory it sounds similar like this: I've bought new shoes and suit. Now what do I do to be a president of US. I have no clue where to from here except get a bus ticket to Washington...
Upload the files through your FTP client to your web server, once uploaded, navigate to yourdomain.com/install/install.php and proceed with the tasks required. You will have to assign a mySQL database, which is a task that is done on the install procedure, very simple task, I think you will get the image once you've pointed your browser to /install/install.php. Regards, Meti
Im not to sure what you mean by "yourdomain.com/install/install.php and proceed with the tasks required."
If you do NOT know what he means by that, you really have no idea about anything regarding websites, will be impossible for you to run a directory let alone a MFA page. Your going to be looking for people to help you every step of the way, and on that route you will be ripped off or scammed by someone in one way or another.
