Does Directory submission works

Kindly suggest me, does the directory submissions still works in SEO? I've heard that G doesn't appreciate it any more. Because there are very less traffics comes from directories. If its still works then what types of directories are appreciated by G?

YES, good, quality directory listings definitely do work. But, for that matter, good, quality links from any source works.

 

Obviously some directories have been penalized and may pass less juice, but I think directories are still a good source of links.

 

A little bit is fine.
I just select a few good ones or very specilised ones in my area.

Otherwise, I don't think it is worth spending too much time on directories. Good links on 'normal' websites bring so much more generally.

Well, let me tell you something a little bold. If anyone tells you that directory submission doesn't do much, then you might as well assume that this person obviously does not know SEO, pr building, traffic, etc.

There's this one site that I've submitted to like 5000 directories in the past 4 months. I didn't care what kind it was, the more the better. That's how I did it. Of course to no surprise a PR 4 followed quick with the site. Becuase of the pr 4 my SERP's raised, and since a lot of directories put sites in the order of PR I do grab some traffic from there, not too much but enough to help a bit. Of course it's all about being way up in google, and I've gotten good ground from directory submitting.

People don't really believe that directories do much, but it's not true. If you submit to a bunch of them you will see results. You won't see it for a month or maybe even 2 or 3, but google will eventually notice your site is more powerful than the competitors.

If you do the directories, then do everything else with link building, then you'll secure a continuous increase in traffic, SERP, and profits.

Ruling directories WILL definitely give you a huge SERP and PR boost. When I say ruling ones, I mean yahoo directory, dmoz, botw and so forth.

Other than these, they still work, only you may not notice the difference they make in terms of SERP and traffic.

 

They do still work for SEO. But pls do not go for numbers - go for quality.

There are many directories on the web- but really high quality directories are rare these days.

Quality directory maybe both FREE and Paid. Also no need to go for PR of the directory. Choose them on the basis of SERPs of your related category/term and domain age alongwith cached page of the category you want to list.

If you can list your site on 100 Free & Paid directories- then you are well on your way up the LADDER.

 

Backlinks are backlinks .... anyway webdirectorys work and are a great way to get free backlinks ....with desired anchor text

 

Directories would still be useful depending on it's quality. Even directories has less traffic if it is a quality directories I think it still have a value in Search engine and would still help to improved SERP.
