I think it is too much juice just as you say. My site has been reindexed but serps is killed off on G I got botted last on the 12th according to G but I suspect that is a few days behind. Reindexing for me is usulally pretty quick as lots of different inbound. Only my home page is indexed presently I am confident that this will change, but I am allowing about two weeks for this in my estimation. Anybody know if this was an accident or deliberate?
Yep Mine too minus 50 I had lots of juice I guess. The reason is high PR text links and how they are placed and on what part of a site. I think it is an experimental algo that will go live next year, a warning to drop any paid links Answer is to drop any paid links, or links that look paid. The question is how long this penalty will apply?
I am now more worried than when I was deindexed. I though this was a Google mistake It is not, it is a serps penalty for paid links above PR5 The question is how may weeks will our sites be minus 50?
If you're correct and it is a penalty, the penalty will remain until you correct whatever Google sees as violating their guidelines and submit a reinclusion request detailing what you have done to remedy the situation.
I don't think that this was the problem [for my website anyway]. I didn't get several PR5+ inbound links or submitted my website to 1000+ directories. Well I am sure than some of these penalties could be the problem!
300K pages no indexed after 4 days. SERPs are fine. Still page one on my top ten terms. http://www.google.com/search?q=volvo+performance
That Mr Simpson was exactly what I was afraid of. A change in wind direction. How exactly do you get sevral hundred links removed!
Site back after a re-inclusion request, can confirm a -50 penalty and I've read this entire thread. I submitted the site to google forums and was told to put a nofollow on outgoing links which was stupid as the site sells high quality adverts and not links. I think that the theory of unnatural linking patterns is probably the most logical suggestion on here. also, not saying much more any more on the forums, i think google is paying a lot more attention to Digital point and other forums and is actively penalizing efforts by webmasters to improve their websites performance!
What are your plans to fix this -50 penalty guys ? ? Do we just sit and wait for it to go away ? Should we build more relavant links and move on !! Will it time out in a certain period of time. What do guys think is the best way to deal with this ?
Dump links and resubmit for me. I have been email webmasters who I have links on their sites who are obviously selling to dump my links. Some are relevant but they are linking to stupid sites. Any one who pays them.
GUYS GOOD NEWS FOR ME: for the first time since i opened this thread, some pages were indexed, well just 200, still need nearly 11,000 to get back to normal but oh well, good sign
Congrats njoker, hopefully the trend continues.... So as far as the Penalty goes, is removing the links that you have control over the only way to fix things ? and will removing the links take a site out of the penalty automatically by the algo ? Is it possible that this is a penalty for building links too fast and it might come back to normal in a few weeks ? G might be penalising sites that acquired too many links too fast and by penalsing they can see what you will do about it...in other other words, it will make you fix whatever you think you did wrong. I am sure some people bought no links and still got hit with this Xmas gift. Since G can't be sure whats bought and whats not, they can just penalize all 10 sites for example and just play the game ...and make the violaters fix the problem themselves by this mehtod "Why don't you tell me what you did wrong and promise you wont do it again" and if you didn't do anything worng...just wait with the others who did.
