Fred Thompson has little cash to pursue late Iowa strategy

Thompson is really on the ropes now. He needs to get the so-cons from Huckabee, but his fundraising is headed in an opposite direction from Mike's.

He's got around 10 days to make his 5 a day push, and that's not going to be easy. People are committed once they donate (to others), and his lazy campaigning (a criticism from the start) in Iowa is coming back to bite him in the ass.

Yes, pushes have been made late, that's what the Paul campaign is planning. But you need deep pockets to blitz the state. It doesn't sound like Fred has any kind of GOTV (Get out the vote) infrastructure setup.

IMO he came into the race to late...long after the push for him was starting to dwindle. Looks like many of his supporters are going for Huckabee, which is a good thing.

Exactly. And they are donating to Huckabee, which makes the chance of them changing to another candidate very poor.

Since Thompson has abandoned New Hampshire, his luck hasn't gone very well.

His only chance IMO is to rally in South Carolina. He's very popular in the deep south, but he needs to show all of the skeptics that he is electable.

If i was Fred i'd stick to better things like bangin' my wife.

Most of his supporters are closet Paul supporters. All they need to do is discover his issues, happened to me.

If he wanted to he could fund the campaign him self. That law and order money could go far.

I received a letter from his campaign, don't even know where they got my address. It looks as if it was written by Ron Paul himself, very pro-Constitutional. If it wasn't signed, I'd think it was from Ron Paul stuff. They target Ron Paul supporters.
It's obvious to me he doesn't run to win, he runs to sabotage Ron Paul's campaign. Same goes for Huckerbee, or whatever his name is

If you've donated to Ron Paul, he may have got your name from the FEC filings.

But if Fred thinks he can pick off pro-Paul people, he needs to fire his advisors.

People are pro-Paul because guys like Fred are former professional lobbyists. No one wants to vote for them, once they know what they are all about.

I live in SC, and I can tell you his presence is not here...Huck however is starting to really get his name out....he is a close 3rd to the advertising of Mitt and Rudi. Fred only has one tv commercial here, and it is all about illegal immigration.

Huckabee and Paul are the only candidates with grassroots, ie. FREE volunteer labor.

Rudy and Mitt are studies in contrast. Rudy does more radio ads, and plays his popularity. Mitt finances TV and a large corporate campaign infrastructure.

What sort of presence does McCain have in SC? That was his Waterloo in 2000.

I think Huckabee's rise has coincided with Giuliani's stumble and Thompson's fall.

This field needs to be shook up further. There are still too many candidates running.

McCain has roadside advertisements only...he was here earlier in the week, but hardly anyone showed up to his rally and he got little press support. Mitt was here last week, giving a press conference in front of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's office...he got a ton of press on that one.

Insane McCain had one press conference/rally in NH months ago, and 3 people showed up.

Romney is very good at staging media events. He pays people to sign wave, as does Hillary Clinton. These people have plastic campaigns, mostly bought and paid for.
