Google Analytics is Not Free

Hello I would like to know is it just me or do any of you wonder why google analytics is free. I personally feel that they are comparing our data and using us to get data from msn and yahoo for free.

Do any of you guys feel the same.

Also There must be over 100,000 thousand users, and Google compares all this data to make themselves stronger. I don't have real proof, but all of there major services are at a cost.

Google is in the business of making money, so your data is the cost of using the service.

This is obvious. The data that is collected through Google Analytics is worth a lot more than you think. Google will leverage this information and price out paid campaigns. Use it only if your sites are 100% pure natural search otherwise you are providing too much information if you give them an idea of how much your conversions are worth.

Google's original purpose for Analytics was primarily to help AdWords advertisers create more efficient advertising campaigns, pushing up the amount they can spend on advertising, making Google more money. Google, like any company should, is as you say in the business of making money - their existing monetization strategy for Analytics is boosting AdWords IMHO.

If you already have google adsense on all your pages then Google can and does already have the same data as google analytics(just not for your usages).

So if im an adwords advertiser it's probably a better idea to remove analytics, im thinking im to small a person for google to even notice. We play with pennies, if google finds out how many pennies im making, i guess its no big deal.

Having tried a whole range of other statistic programs, I have to say that Analytics is without doubt the best I have come across. I also use statcounter, which I think provide a great service, but the whole way Analytics is laid and works makes it the tops for me.

If you are worried about Google using your data, you can find a whole other range of free statistics programs on the net. Just don't expect the same depth of information from them though.

Analytics was Urchin on Demand and priced 495 usd/month now it is free at least you don't pay as money , this is normal imo.You can cancel your account and stop using it there are a lot of good alternatives.

We use firestats, we don't want google collecting all our data.

After all, google is just a massive data mining operation ;) live in fear
