That's right in some cases but not all - there's plenty of people [actually I think the majority of those who are earning big time (think of those 1 page affiliate landing sites, or simply a seasonal website like valentines gifts - if you optimize it well and get on first/ second page on Google you WILL get tons of visitors and then tons of profits - you don't need passion for that sort of thing, I've been to this personally )] who made a website on a subject they knew nothing about before they started and made money afterwards. It's a good idea to have in mind when you're starting, nonetheless. Oh and to the OP - you can't just make a website and expect people to sign up for it and get money by making them click on adsense or memberships or whatever you may have in mind. Yes, adding quality, UNIQUE content is a great idea to start with but you just don't learn these things overnight. You should have done research, testing etc. Many of us have spent YEARS and YEARS in internet marketing and other related areas to master this kind of thing - and I'm sure some of those who can be included in the above category DO have the ability to bring tens of thousands of visitors to a new forum overnight, but again, it takes time (not necessarily money) to learn 'how to increase google adsense income'.

How about you give me some tips. You're pretty hopeless. Good forums expand through demand, and then word of mouth. If you build something worthwhile people will join, the more members you get the faster it will grow. It's not a step by step overnight process.
