Is it worth banging your head over PR?

After all you do trying to get that beloved pagerank and the big G changes it's algorithms. I mean what in the world can you do?

You submit to all these nice blogs that have a nice position in the SE and you notice there are those devilish NoFollow tags.

You pay to get your site submitted to all those directories that people on DP here charge for and most have next to no content and most likely just exist for just this reason.

You exchange links to find out that the big G frowns upon that!

You purchase links on a site and find out that the big G has penalized you and the next update has robbed you of the little PR you had.

Are we fighting a losing battle? After all is said and done are we putting all our
eggs in one basket? I am starting to look at the big picture. When I see muscle flexing like this happening I immediately think of MS and the monopolizing that goes with the BigDaddy territory. I guess the idea is to diversify.

What do you think the future holds for search engines and advertising? is social networks and viral the next forerunner in getting your site noticed?

Just work on site and make more pages. Then make sure to do keyword research to find some good terms.

Focus on good content laid out to Google guidelines and the links will come naturally if you're providing something useful.

Besides, PR has nothing to do with how well you rank for searches.

For me PR was very important until last PR update when GOogle started penalizing websites for selling links. I fell a victim to this PR stick of Google for selling links and now my view has completely changed

THROW THE PR IN DUSTBIN, STRIVE FOR SERP's.

I started working on my serp's since then and now I can say proudly that my site is really doing well. Better than I was striving for PRs although link building is still the most successful SERP building way

PR does not matter. However, it can be a good indication of how well you will do with SERP's. For example. the more backlinks you have, the higher your PR will probably be, but it is the backlinks themselves that effect SERP. So if you concentrate on SEO in general, your PR will get higher, and so will your SERP's.

Unless you're selling links from a site it's a waste of time worrying about PR, it isn't going to help your rankings.
