Having my link on a site got it BANNED by Google!!!!

I had purchased a link from a member at DP who has since been banned. The site was polish based with english text through out different pages.

Google must have really not liked what he did, I am not completely sure what it was. All sites that had a link were kicked out of google's index.

I had another person email me directly saying OMG my site has been banned has yours... and he was right my site was completely out of Google, not one page listed. My site was previously top 10 in very competitive keywords and generating some decent $$ from the traffic it generated.

I then went into Google Web master Tools and submitted from an re inclusion. Within 48 hours the site was back in the Google index but slapped with a huge penalty. How do I know, its on page 5+ now for terms where it was top 5.

Will I be able to get my rankings back with this domain? I think I can but its going to be a hell of a lot of work... The PR is probably been removed as well and will have to rebuild.

All and all this brings fourth a very dangerous position.... Google now banning sites that have a text link ad on another site

Anyone else have similar issues?? I have had a site removed from the G index before but I probably deserved it, this time I am just shocked as were the other people affected.

I don't think they are banning every site which buys a link, but you should be careful when buying links from websites. Also, avoid getting site-wide links.

PR7 is nice, but always check the site for fishy stuff.... check backlinks, HTML code, redirects, etc.

Saw a site once with PR8, that was built so badly, it must have been a mistake with google's algorithm... the next month it had PR1. So PR means nothing.

I guess its not banning I have noticed huge de-indexing/indexing going on in googles algo.

Anyone linking to you will NOT ban you.

Well deindexing to me is basically like banning right? If you go site:www.yourdomain.com and get nothing. Yes your site can be re-indexed again by going into webmaster tools. Yes you are slapped with a penalty that basically wipes all your rankings.... what can be worse? If I get no traffic from Google anymore, thats the same as a ban for me.

I know that over time I can turn it around again but this is the case even if I get a site banned. You adjust it and get it back in the index with huge penalties.

One theme that seems to be appearing again and again in the past few weeks is that people have been hit if they have links (purchased or otherwise) on many sites that in turn link to "bad" sites. "Bad" here seems to be defined as sites that blatantly purchase a lot of links (probably using programs like TLA, PPP, etc).

Yes, eventually. But, you should regain your ranking in a natural way instead of trying to manipulate Google by purchasing a link.

Is it possible that this member was actually a G employee in disguise?

That would explain it because there would be definitive proof that you bought the link. Otherwise, anyone could buy links on that site to get all of his competitors banned.

Nothing is impossible. But that sounds seriously far fetched.

I think that getting a link on "that" site would be a factor in getting a site banned, but it would not be the sole deciding factor. Probably if you bought links for your competitor on several sites that are blatantly selling ads, it might work. And if it does not work, all your free backlinks will get your competition ranking better :D

Hmm, I'll have to be careful. I bet the big earners just buy whole sites to get links.

Well, i guess a constant PR can be an indicator that the site is legit, but i wouldn't buy a link only based on PR. (in my case i'd rather not buy links at all, but, well...)

I do not think that is possible, how would Google know you have purchased the link? Their algorithm is great but is not almighty. Maybe you are just unlucky.

That question has been answered, however speculatively, many times in the past few weeks. It seems that, almighty or not, Google did detect many paid links.

You will not get de-indexed for a link on a site pointing to yours. This is a bit of nonsense. Now you may have links on your site pointing to bad areas or you are doing other black hat on your site.

If you believe this, get a new domain, and for the top 20 sites for your keyword, buy a link on this same domain to each of them and by your theory they should all be de-indexed for having a paid link on that site to their site.

I'd love to see the top 20 just vanish, but alas, this theory holds no water.

i would have to think that you did something else that would have caused the de-indexing. i just don't see how google could do that to you unless they had solid proof that you purchased a link.

Theres so many people buying links I'm sure it would be more widespread if google were really penalizing people.
