So do you use a Mac or PC? and why? I use both with a nice application called Vmware. I have a MacBook Pro 2.4 -- 17" and a few PC's and even 2 Linux servers that I use for testing and some production. How about you? Tk
I've been a Mac guy for the last few years now. I originally made the switch to help with my day job but now I use Macs for my freelance work exclusively. I just find it easier to do web development work on a Mac.
Do get a mac they rock and with the VMware app you can run the PC app's side by side..with the mac ... vmware.com is the application I use. Tk
PC, a buddy has a mac though, and won't shut up about it... I might wind up buying one if this new site ever starts earning anything...
I have a G3 toilet seat iBook, a G4 Powerbook, and a scrap junkyard frankendell running OSX 10.4 and worked for five years as an apple service technician... and have to say: NEVER buy Apple. Apart from being ABSURDLY overpriced for what they are, the construction techniques and designs are much akin to the song from the Sherry Bobbins episode of the Simpsons "Cut Every Corner". They are some of the most rinky poorly made crap on the market - the only other company producing crap on this scale is the garbage Dell makes for the consumer market. (which is why IF you are going to order a dell, do so from the business page!) Every time someone holds up an apple as a shining example of design I feel like handing out a Darwin award. Magsafe connectors that cause premature hard drive failures (wait, you mean magnets near a hard drive are bad?!?) AND are prone to catching FIRE (what do you expect for a company that doesn't have a single product that would pass UL testing, so they go to the constantly threatened with having their OSHA listing pulled CSA), underclocking CPU's so they can skimp on cooling (did you know most 233mhz G3's are actually 500mhz CPU's they underclocked so they could skip putting a heat sink on it?), cheap plastic that dries out and cracks north of the mason-dix on all the plastic macbooks/ibooks? How about selling 18 bit color displays and advertising them as 24 bit in the brand new 'bleeding edge' macbook pro's? Sleazeball shits, thy name be Apple. Of course, my recent experience dealing with and supporting people who upgraded to Leoptard hasn't done much to improve my opinion... damn thing makes Vista look good. (which is a bit like comparing crap to a turd - you can polish both and they're still ****) I'd be much more open to Apple's Operating system if it had a taskbar and wasn't tied to their crap hardware. (but then I consider the Win98 ui to be the pinnacle of interface design, everything since being cheap copies and goofy eye candy working AGAINST functionality) So... I use a PC, under windows, as my primary workstation. It runs the software I want, any hardware I choose, without the nonsense of having to **** with the command line every five seconds in linsux for the simplest of functionality. If I still wanted to **** around with the command line I'd still be using Xenix on my trash-80 model 12.
MAC is getting to cocky about there no virus thing so tons of people are making viruses for it,.. That and there new OS is worse then vista.. Also i need to have right click ^_^ PC will be the only thing i ever use.
This is like asking: What's safer to put $1,000,000 of cash in? A wallet in front of a gangster, or a 1000 pound safe!!!! If you vote for da safe, you vote for the virus free Mac!!! *ducks*
You realize mac's have tons of viruses just everyone says "MAC's are virus free I dont need anti-virus" so they go undetected ^_^ Thanks Nintendo for showing commercials work
Never used a mac in my life, but getting one in January hopefully (if the macbook ultra-thin is released)
