Is blogging profitable?

I'm interested in blogging. How much can a startup blog make? I am aware that I need to have original content. I will use a wordpress.org blog (hosted on my server) and make money with adsense and affiliate marketing.

I have a question though:
What niche is too specific and what niche is to broad. My idea was computer software evaluations, optimization tips, etc.

Any input?

 

Nothing is too broad or too small. If you're serious about blogging buy a domain..

by long tail keywords im assuming your talking about more detailed keywords:
ex: dog training vs. how to train to dog to stop barking

Another question:
Should I submit my blog content to article publishing sites as well?

 

I would suggest NO, as there would be chances of duplicate content and your blog will loss value. Consider submitting your blog in different blog directories, it is highly recommended.

Articles are good to write with links to your site, but like he said above do not duplicate the same article in your blog. So if you can come up with seperate informative articles to get people to your site via articles its a great way to build traffic and will also give you good backlinks.

 

i would say... the niche which you have chosen to start with that and learn from your experience that in which niche you do the best... as i would not recommend to go with someone's else suggestion as the niche the people would suggest would be off there expertise and may be it must not prove right for you...

 

Choose a niche you're interested in and be different. Blogging generates money, but it's a lot of work. It's the best bet for those who ran out of ideas

 

Blogging can be profitable, but you need to put the time in, it is not a quick or easy buck, if you want to make more than $10 a day from it, then you need to put in hours per day.

Also, it will not happen over night, blogs grow as your reputation does.. so you could easily go 6 months without even seeing a cent.

Blogging is profitable but you have to VERY hard. You will probably some good earnings after a month or two if you are somewhat popular.

Blogging is very profitable. Traffic = money though, so without it you won't make anything.

 

If you consistently publish great content then, of course, blogging (and running a website, in general) can be profitable.

How much a startup blog makes depends on exposure, on the traffic you will be receiving right from the start. If you publish stories others find useful and they spread the word then you can earn a pretty penny right from the beginning, it's all up to you.

Yes, you can make money blogging. And in some cases you can make lots of money but don't go into it thinking that it's easy money. Just like anything else, it takes a lot work to make a good living blogging.
