depends the length of time you are willing to sit back and allow it to grow. Mutual funds are safer in a sense, but usual have a low yield per annum compared to stocks which are high risk-high gain (pending on the style of your investment ;) )

    Talk with your broker.

    have a good one.

Mutual funds help minimize the risk by diversifying on many different stocks. There's really no better or worse, depends what you want to achieve on your investments

Mutual funds tend to be more diverse so for example if you have one stock that jumps 100% you actually see that 100% but while the mutual fund can hold that same stock it could only be 5-10% of their holding so you wouldn't notice as much of the gain as you would holding the individual stock.

All I know about mutual funds is:

Mutual funds are subject to market risks - please read the offer document carefully before investing [Said in a single breath in 3 seconds] :p

LOL. I guess the moral of you post is: 'Don't ask for financial advice from webmasters, ask a professional financial advisor.' Or am I reading too much in your humor?

I prefer investing a part of my earnings in stocks where I can double or tripple my investments in a short time. But it could also go the other way so invest only what you can afford to loose.

Far and away the best investment for most investors is Mutual Funds.

Growth funds generally average 10 to 14 percent over time. they are long term investments. Your age and quantity of money makes a difference as to how to deversify in different funds.
