Hello there I am interested into getting into adwords and just have a couple simple questions. 1.How much should I spend to test the program and different campaigns out? (also I know this is going to vasry greatly but some rough figures would be appreciated) 2.What are some good resources for some basic information on the adwords program, not totally basic as I am not an idiot just some things that I should know if I have never used the program etc.? thank you any help would be greatly appreciated.
You'll find a lot of info in here. Also, be very very careful when you're just starting. The main goal you want to accomplish is not to bring raw traffic, but targeted traffic. Traffic that is going to buy is people typing in "buy (your product)", or where to find (your product). These are people late in the buying cycle looking to make a purchase. You can have everyone in the world come to your site, but if they aren't targeted, it is wasted money. Search "long tail keyword adwords" in google and you'll find some good resources.
How much can you afford to loose if things go tits up? Any new campaigns I'm going to test I'll put $100 on the table and if I see good conversions then I'll increase the budget with a few hundred. The numbers really depend on how much you can afford and wont break the bank if it fails. Check out Redfly Marketing. Dave's info has really helped me lower my costs and convert better.
