Hi, right now I've a link structure with date in the url. Not very optimized, the thing is that I didn't know anything about SEO when I started out. So now I decided to change all my links to category based. if it is 2007/12/01/somelink/ it will be category-name/somelink/ question is, how do I safely redirect old links, so I don't loose ranking? I have about 40 posts/links to redirect.
I am pretty sure you can use the All in one SEO plugin to change only the future urls. There is a box that you can check or uncheck to change the current urls If you decided to change the current urls you could do permanent redirects on all of the former urls Have you checked this plugin out?
nope I didn't try it yet. But I have some plugins that do same functionality, like sitemap plugin and tittle rewrite. So I'm kind of reluctant to remove them and install all in one seo. And I'm afraid those plugins will conflict with each other. are u referring to this one: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/ ?
Yes that is the one. If you are already using a plugin that rewrites titles then use it. I have gotten into the habit of using the all in one SEO
I don't believe in getting used to things, this is luxury in a ever changing world of seo and internet marketing we always must be perusing change. So I installed this plugin, turned out to be quite handy it has allot of options for rewriting tittles. But what about permalinks, I didn't find option you mentioned.
i see that you have 40 posts. it's not too much. you can create 40 301 redirect from old ones to the new ones
