    256 MB was my old laptop, my new one has 2 Gigs :D Next I will be upgrading my desktop and then after that I'll be able to finally do some serious editing for my videos and such.

    yeah if its 32 bit os 4gb is the max. technically my system only see's 3.5gb. Its depends on ur mobo bios though. My work machine has 4gb but only 3gb is seen. It usually averages 3.25-3.5 though. Also video card plays into it to.

    Im sitting on 4GB of RAM on my laptop currently.

    Its going to take atleast a year now for this configuration to become obselete.

    32-bit systems can support 4Gb of total address space, which is a combination of RAM, video memory, and other components that use memory. So the most RAM you could really get any use out of is 3Gb. More than that requires the 64-bit version. I read this somewhere recently, Cant remember where and I'm pretty sure it was XP and Vista specific..
