Ahmadinejad writes for Newsweek

The Newsweek newspaper now has a new guest. The iranian presidente Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

“The heavy shadow of America’s unilateralism is also visible on the unresolved question of Palestine, which is one of the gravest tragedies of the 20th and 21st centuries. The U.S. government has succumbed to the demands of the Zionists and the Zionist regime. This is a lethal ailment that afflicts U.S. administrations. The American people do not like to see their leaders fall captive to the Zionist network. Surely the American people would prefer U.S.-inspired policies to those perpetrated by the Zionists. No fair-minded American is happy with the present situation. Regrettably, despite the objections of some of America’s elite, personal and political interests—especially those of the present administration—have prevented any action to counter this fatal disease. So long as this situation persists, we will see tyranny and injustice in the region. The U.S. government will bear the heavy responsibility for the Zionist regime’s massacre of Palestinian women and children in their homes and territory.”

It was the people of Palestine and the Arab world who rejected the UN resolution of 1948 which would of put in place a two state solution and decided instead to wage war on Israel.

If I have trouble trusting my own governments propaganda why in the hell would I trust his? Iran is a thinly veiled theocracy anyway and I think seperation of church and state is one the greatest things about the US. He needs to worry about his own backyard and quit spitting on mine.

43% of Israel was offered to them, to be exact. 56% to the Jewish state.
I wouldn't call almost half of the land "an inch of land"

If someone invaded America now and said OK we are staying, you can have 43% of your land and we will have 56%.......would you say yes?

Actually, the arabs raped and pillaged lands of other countries to expand their religion. No entity in history, has more experience in taking other's lands.

Israel is a tiny spec in a sand dune, compared to what islam savagely conquered by the sword.

Israel was Israel before islam was invented. To this day, there are muslims that still occupy Israel's lands.

muslims occupied (and still do to this day) Israel's lands, and many others. I'd be thrilled if islam gave back 43% of the lands it stole from others.

People tend to remember only the parts of history that they want to recall, not the full scope of it.

Guerilla, I agree with the words to his closing paragraph - human dignity, love, kindness, benevolence, justice, fraternity, etc. - all fine words.

But let me pick from the hat - how about hanging homosexual teens for being who they are, and no more? Equal access to education (such as the much-maligned Bah'ai)? Death by stoning of adulterers?

I don't take my moral lead from this piece of dogshit. I don't believe world peace between polities can be achieved absent wholesale transformations within polities.

I agree wholeheartedly NPT. I think like that, you think like that, I just thought it was curious that he would end his piece trying to take the moral high ground.

I don't understand who this guy is trying to reach. His phony efforts in this way are so club-fisted, to me, that it is laughably transparent.

I imagine it's a propaganda exercise for people back in Iran.

Then again, after watching a lot of GWB press conferences, nothing said by politicians surprises me.

Stoning for adultery is present in almost all Islamic countries, you can't just pick out Iran for it - It's part of Sharia law.

And it is a fundamental view of most Islamic (And Christian) faiths is that homosexuality is a choice and not gene based so they see it as they are chosing to be homosexual, they are given options and such as sex changes payed for by the goverment.

I'm not defending Ahmadinejad but I think you're statement was pretty out of line.

The thread is about an article by Iran's second in command so I think northpoints post was right on topic. If you think adultery and homosexuality is a capital offense thats your right I suppose but I agree with northpoint's point, Ahmadinejad is a hypocrite and a douchebag.
